May 23, 20188 yr Every workplace has their own rules. Just because my employer doesn’t let me do something during work hours, doesn’t mean some else’s employer can’t allow that same thing. And the NFL is not your typical employer. For years players have gotten grief for not being socially aware, or more vocal in their community. Now though, once they do, we want the to just shut up and play. I don't follow your logic here?

May 23, 20188 yr The why play the anthem at all? There is no reason to. There's also no reason for the teams to even be on the field for it.

May 23, 20188 yr It's completely unnecessary. It might not be necessary, but perhaps the NFL knows that a large percentage of their fans enjoy it. Several years ago, on a whim me a a few friends traveled out to Kansas City for a playoff game between the Chiefs and the Ravens. Towards the end of the National Anthem a B2 bomber from nearby Whiteman AFB buzzed over top of the stadium. It is still one of the coolest moments that I have had inside a stadium. The attached video is from a different game. It doesn't do justice to the feeling you get while inside the stadium.

The majority of fans are eating nachos, drinking beer, walking to their seats, standing in concession lines or talking/texting on their phones during the anthem. They do flyovers so often at sporting events anymore that, to me at least, they've lost their appeal. I've seen so many of them, it's almost expected now days.
