It's all about the kids, not the adults on the sidelines. The more these kids get to play the better.

:thumb: :thumb: Great post TGf. Brilliant.........simply Brilliant!

Thief.

I may be a lone voice here, but...

I like the first two games being intra-district. It just makes more organizational sense having "district tourney" winners meet for a regional final.

IMO, it also creates a lot of good 2 vs. 3 (and more rarely, 1 vs. 4) matchups of teams that know the other well.

I'm on your side, Joe! :thumb:

:thumb: I can see your points made and agree with them. All I have basically said is that the regular season should imo determine the district champion. Then the 1st two rounds would be a district/ regional playoff and region semi final still with the the two district /region playoff winners playing for the Region title. I would also like to see the district playoff.tourney winners rotate who they play in the next round. Meaning for example the winner of the district playoff of Raceland/LCA,etc. district would not always play the NKY district every year. I hope people can understand what I am trying to explain and probably not doing a very goood job of it. LOL.

I need the smilie with the beating the dead horse. :D

Absolutely not. For some teams that have no chance to advance in the playoffs, just making the playoffs is their state title and gives them something to shoot for.

Correct:thumb: It also allows the younger player to see how the top programs do things that make them elite. It is a valuable learning tool and as TheGreatestFan stated it is all about the kids.

:thumb: I liked the idea of new opponents. It just adds more excitement to the playoffs IMHO.

Actually, one of the best playoff games I ever witnessed was between 4A Scott County (#1 seed R4D7) and North Laurel (#4 seed R4D8) 2 seasons ago. North Laurel had the lead and just about pulled off this upset. I have no problem with the current 1-4 seeds making it to the playoffs. However, I don't agree with the new alignment and over 80% of the teams making it starting next season, but that's another topic.

:thumb: That was a GREAT game...one I will never forget as well..I sat at the edge of my seat the whole game with the final score ending Scott Co. 22 North Laurel 15.. But a true playoff game it was no doubt! The North laurel fans were very respectful and nice. It does add more exciement when you play other teams from other areas. It should have stayed the way it has been IMHO. I do not care one bit for the new system seems rather boring!

If you have a district that is almost always tougher than the other wouldn't it be more fair to play the other district. That way you get the best two teams playing for the regional title. I also like the ideal af getting to play different teams.

Another idea/possibility that I have thought about is to take 3 teams out of a district instead of 4. Give the team with the best district record a bye in the first round and have 2 vs. 3 within the district and the winner playing the district regular season winner. This to me would reward a team for winning the district in the regular season. The drawback to this obviously would be that it would eliminate one team (#4) from participating in the district playoff but the regular season would then count for something. Just wanted to know others thoughts and opinion on this and I will leave the dead horse alone.:D

The biggest problem I have with the KHSAA playoffs system is that over the past several years about 1/3 of teams in the playoffs are .500 or less. There are too many teams in with losing records, and the mismatch between the 1 and 4 seeds is typically very great. It will only get worse under the 6 division format, as far more teams are awarded berths.

Oldrambler, your suggestion has promise. In the current 4 division system there are 128 (4*32) teams that go to playoffs. In your format in 6 divisions, 144 (6*24) teams would go to playoffs. You get more teams in which most people seem to want, but you eliminate many of the lopsided 1 v 4 games, by keeping the 0 and 1 win teams out.
