Playing 2 Weeks in a Row

Featured Replies

Dixie and Ryle. The winner gets the #2 seed and the loser gets the #3 seed.

(that is unless some unforeseen upsets occur Friday night).

Belfry vs. Shelby Valley.. barring a Belfry victory.

What's crazy is, if Valley pulls the upset then Belfry drops from the 1 seed all the way to a 4 seed!

That is ridiculous!

That is ridiculous!

Nope, that's a competitive district. :thumb:

The system as it stands this season is pathetic.

I also hate this system ... I have yet to meet a coach that likes it, either.

Assuming that this system is here for a while, I think with the new scheduling grid, the playoff issue won't bother me as much. It will have at least been two weeks since you last met an opponent.

With that being said, I HATE THE NEW SYSTEM!

That is ridiculous!

What's ridiculus? Belfry would have two district losses and so would Shelby Valley. Valley would have won the head-to-head. That tiebreaker would be an easy one!

With that being said...it's not happening!;)

Who were the powers that be trying to please with this new system...its a joke!!!!!!!!??????????????? Honestly who does it help to play the same district schedule twice in almost consecutive order?????????????????

It will still bother me. One of the most interesting aspects of the playoffs, and coaches will also tell you this, was the opportunity to play good teams from the other district. It just felt more like the playoffs that way.

Oh, I completely agaree with you. It seems like we're playing a 12-game season this year, with a three round playoff. I just meant that I would be able to partially stomach it next year, because at least you won't have to play a common opponent two week in a row.

I wish the KHSAA would have thought of that when they made the decision.

I agree too...but I bet there are some 4A coaches in Lex that like it.

I think it diminishes a teams success during the regular season. Do not like this system. Yes I know basketball and baseball do it this way but they play 3 times as many games.

All this play within the District and drawing to see which Districts play who was an appeasement to the Coaches Assn. over the public vs. private.

The supposed blind draw for round 3 games was the appeasement for Coaches Assoc. over pub priv. I dont think within district play was any part of it.

I am not sure that is the case.

I do agree with you that they would potentially only have to play one of the Big 3 throughout a playoff run, but the big hurdle for the Lexington 4A schools has been the state semi game. Now instead of Trinity always sitting there, it could be T, St. X, or Male.

I'm almost certain, if not exact, I apologize, but I believe that if Mercer beats Spencer and Newport beats Lloyd, then all four of those teams will turn around next week and play oneanother, because...................

Newport, Lloyd and Spencer will all be in a three way tie w/ a 3-2 record, Spencer WOULD lose out in the tie breaker of the three and finish 4th.

Yes, I believe this is right.
