According to the computers UT lost by 1 point to the #4 team, beat the #5 team by 17, has no other losses, and is #11.

Can anyone tell me why in the world Cal is ranked #5 by the computers and UT is #11. Are they totally based on SOS? (Human polls are 11/12 for Cal and 8/9 for UT)

Both teams have played 3 ranked teams (UF, Cal, UGA for UT: UT, ASU, Oregon for Cal) of which one is no longer ranked.

Looks like the Pac10 just gets patted on the back for no good reason. (WSU is 31/37 in the polls and 18 in the computers?!?!?!)

Not to mention UT spanked Cal in the season opener.

According to the computers UT... beat the #5 team by 17

That would be Cal according to the computers.

4th thru 8th are really clumped. What encourages me is that Louisville is still in such great position deep into the season. If Louisville is able to beat WVU, they'll jump Texas in the human polls to go to number 4. If they beat Rutgers the next week, that will be wins over #14 and #7 in the computers. You can't tell me that doesn't put Louisville ahead of all the once beatens.

BCS means nothing at this stage of the season. You have to break it down like this.

Michigan and Ohio State will cancel each other out. Same with Louisville and West Virginia. If Arkansas wins out then Auburn cancels out. Florida will lose another game and USC will falter.

Sounds pretty interesting. These next few weeks will determine who wants it more.

I'm Saying:

Winner of Michigan/Ohio State

vs.

Winner of Louisville/West Virginia

BCS current rankings, good for discussion but several upcoming match-ups, over the next few weeks, will eliminate some unbeatens and separate the teams some.

Could there be any way it happens or any way to justify Michigan and Ohio State playing two games in a row. Are they truly the two best teams? I think they are.

I think it's a lot more likely than people realize. It would require a USC loss, and Michigan winning a close one on November 18th. tO$U would get in over an undefeated UL or WVU IMO...

People that support the current BCS/Bowl system always claim that the regular season is the playoffs of college football. In that case, the Michigan/tO$U loser already had their shot for all the marbles. I would be TOTALLY opposed to a rematch, even though I think they are the two best teams.

I think it's possible, I just don't think it's that likely. I think that if Michigan beats tO$U in Columbus, it will be by a moderately wide margin. The Luckeyes would win a close game, IMO.

I believe it was Lee Corso who said he could see a once-beaten Florida who has won the SEC championship game getting into the National Championship game over an unbeaten UL/WVU.

If Michigan wins then I don't think they should play again but if tOSU eeks by then I would be for a rematch on a neutral field.

Either way at this point I don't believe WVU or UofL have done anything to prove that either one is the second best in the country. If one totally dominates the other then you could consider it. I truly think that we will see a 1 loss team jump an undefeated UofL/WVU team.

Lee Corso is boderline mentally deficient.
