BCS Rankings

If Michigan wins then I don't think they should play again but if tOSU eeks by then I would be for a rematch on a neutral field.

If anything I think the only way we would see a rematch would be if its the other way around. If Michigan wins I think there is a better chance of a rematch than if Ohio State wins. However I dont think we will see a rematch in either case...

For the record I really think that if UL does go undefeated this year that they will still be left out of the national title game for a one loss team. However if West Virginia goes undefeated I think they would make it in over a one loss team...

Mathmatically impossible...

If they are the two best teams, they should play again. And since you think they are the two best teams...

I agree with 02Ram. If the purpose of the BCS is to determine the champion, then there should be no rematch of a regular season game. Especially one that falls so late in the season.

Just curious. If UM wins by 1 on Nov 18th, how far do you think tO$U will drop in the human polls???

A split title would only be an option if the AP votes went to UL as #1. Do you really think they would vote UL over tO$U? And answer with your head and not your heart... :D

No....but a one loss OSU, beating a one loss Michigan, with an undefeated U of L who likely would've had to beat Auburn, SC, or ND...would be a hard argument also.

Behind an undefeated team, if one is still around.

Mathmatically impossible...

Ok I admit maybe you are right because I really have not looked into the whole numbers thing of it, so can you explain why it would be impossible..Because just the way I look at it, if UL goes undefeated and say that scenario that you mentioned that OSU loses by 1 to Michigan I think they still would stay ahead of UL in the polls. But if West Virginia is the undefeated team and OSU loses, I think West Virginia would move ahead of OSU in the polls. For the reason that West Virginia showed what they can do last year in a big bowl, and then if they go undefeated this year with beating UL who is in the top 10. I think people would give them enough votes to move ahead of OSU in the polls, but I dont think that would have happen if UL was the team that was undefeated...So as I said I really dont know and haven't looked at it mathmatically, so can you explain just so I know why it would be impossible?

By the way I know I still hope that UL of West Virginia slip along the way and that both teams end up with one loss, because I believe each team in the SEC will end up with 2 losses before its all said and done. So if my Notre Dame team wins out and beats a hopefully still a undefeated USC team to end the year that they would have a chance to be in the title game then...:D

The WVU OOC is very weak, and the computers have them at #14. That alone would keep them behind a 1 loss team that's close to them in the human polls...

:thumb: Ok well thank you for explaining it, cause I haven't even looked at the computer rankings yet, so I really didn't know.

Make no mistake that if they beat UL and Rutgers they will jump up from #14. I just don't think it would be enough. BCS talk makes my head hurt...

I can't see them falling past 2nd. I'm not saying a rematch won't happen, just that I don't agree with it.

If the sole purpose of the BCS is to determine the best team in football, we will have already determined that either OSU or Michigan is better than the other, so why should they play again?

Pitch the winner of that game (probably the best 2 teams in football) up against a SEC/Pac10/ACC/BEast opponent and see if those two really are the best.

If OSU/Michigan beats the opponent soundly I'm all for voting them 1/2 at the end of the season and having the other team 3rd.

You prove nothing by having them face each other again.

You prove nothing by having them face each other again.

Except that part about the two best teams playing for the title. It's not the job of the BCS to rank based on who plays when.. :D

I agree. One of the things I like so much about college football is that it's regular season is the only regular season in sports that actually counts for anything.
