The misunderstanding over the District Titles has already started

Featured Replies

Wasn't there a thread last week in which someone posted an email from Julian Tackett or Butch Cope stating that the regular season was for seeding only.

Yes

I think its one whoever wins the second round of the playoffs then wins out that district championship. The regular season is just for tourny seedings thats it.
So the statement in post #4 above is incorrect?

The regular season is for seeding only. The district champion will be crowned after the 2nd round.

So, for example, if let's say Danville beats Frankfort in round two(pray pray) and makes it to the Regionals, and there sits Bardstown or Bethlehem as a #1 seed, then by rule the Admirals would have to play away for the title?? Is that right??

I thought the region championship game was done like the semifinals game! Alternates every other year.

It's like college basketball. You can be the regular season conference champion, but the tournament is what matters in the larger scheme of the playoffs. Both are 'district' titles, but their meanings differ.

That is what I thought Adopted; can someone clarify??

Even year, even district hosts. Odd year, odd district hosts. So this year, the even number districts would host.

So, whomever wins the 2nd round game between the District 2 teams(should be Frankfort and Danville round 2) would host the Regional title game vs. either a Bardstown, Bethlehem, or maybe Holy Cross....whew, that makes me feel a lot better assuming(and you know what that gets you) the Admirals can get to the finals.

Not necessarily, only if Frankfort would win the 2nd round would they play at home. If I understand the wording, if both teams in round 3 are the same seed then they play at the even/odd district's field, otherwise, the game is at the highest seeds field. So, if Danville wins in round 2 and say Bardstown wins their District as a #1 seed, the game would be at Bardstown.

go to KHSAA.org, then KHSAA Sports(scroll down to football), then General Info(scroll down to 2006/07/08 3/4th round playoffs) This is where it is explained on #4.

The regional teams travel no matter the seed, even district winners travel on odd years and odd district winners travel on even years. If there is a difference this year please explain!!! My under standing is last season Boyle Co. traveled to Bullitt East for the Regional final this year the Louisville team will travel to Boyle Co/ Southwestern/Pulaski Co./ Marion Co. area. Didn't Bowling Green host Bullitt East for the semi-finals last year as well.

Danville traveled to Bardstown last year!

You are correct. The PSW district will host the regional title game because that is district 4. This is an even numbered year, so the even numbered district will host. Seeding or record doesn't matter. Even though we were undefeated in 2002, we had to travel to Boyle County.

If you were undefeated then you were the number 1 seed and I know for a fact that Boyle was the number 1 seed since they didn't lose a game there for a few years. Therefore with two number 1 seeds it would go to the even/odd. The way I read it seeding counts. A number 2 seed would have to travel to a number 1 seed even if it was their districts turn to host.

Key words, "last season!" Go to the KHSAA website and follow the links I posted above. If I am misunderstanding the wording someone correct me.

What I read is that in the 3rd round the 'highest seed team host the game.' If the two teams have the same seed then it goes to the even/odd yr thing as it was in the PAST. This game did rotate yr to yr but that has been changed if I am interpreting the KHSAA wording correctly.

Somene else please go and read that.
