Not at all. Just not a fan of feel good measures that will not get us anywhere. We have people that think these things are happening because of a particular rifle. That's total nonsense. If you take that rifle out of the equation, what do you think will happen? These events stop or the killer moves on to the next weapon? I guarantee you it will be the later. Something isn't wrong with the rifle, something is wrong with people. There's little respect for human life anymore. I'd prefer to find an answer that would help. We aren't there, or even close.

Everyone here agrees the main problem are the people.

 

Some people are willing to entertain the idea of removing certain weapons from certain stores or exploring options for making them more difficult to obtain. Some people aren't and don't offer any other solutions.

I disagree. Plenty of people are blaming the rifle, my Facebook is bombarded daily with that bias, same with blaming the NRA. All I'm pointing out to you is that all these businesses are kneeling to pressure to do something that won't stop the next shooter, or the next one, or the one after that and so on and so on... Its all Just feel good measures. It's like saying stopping sales of potato chips will stop obesity.

They can do whatever they please. Don't misunderstand my posts to think otherwise. Its not my place to tell a business how they should run it. I just fully understand why they're doing it. It isn't to try to stop the next shooter. I seriously doubt gun sales are a huge chunk of their bottom line. This is a PR show for them. I'm simply explaining to you and others that this move will solve nothing. And I know I'm right. Deep down, I think you do too. Just my opinion.

I'm telling you that's not what they're doing. It's a PR move. Dicks has no power to do anything to prevent it from happening. How is putting the onus on the gun an answer? It isnt, and that's all they're doing. I can't be any clearer than that. You choose to think it will help. I'm guaranteeing you it won't. Sadly, I know I'm right.

If the action of Dick's and Wal-Mart deter ONE person from committing on of these acts, it was effective. If it makes you feel better to tell yourself that you guarantee that won't happen, knock yourself out. The idea that you could possibly know that is laughable. :lol2: You apparently need that.

Do we know how many of the guns used all the way back to Columbine in these shootings were purchased at Dicks?

In all fairness, I have heard one alternative from some that want no form of gun control give. Give people more guns, I have even read, although I don't believe this is very many, but to require all adults to carry.

 

In other words the more that carry the less problems there would be.

And making it more inconvenient provides an opportunity for that person to second guess themselves. That is enough justification for me. I cannot for the life of me understand how people are upset because a company is doing something to TRY to make a difference. Whether you think it is a PR stunt or not, they are making an attempt. That's much more than a lot of people can say.
