Russell vs. Fleming County Predictions

Featured Replies

Fleming has bascially 2 different offenses this season. They have their usual spread and Bailey Ellison is starting to find his range throwing the ball, main receivers are Moore and Roberts. Then, they get into a Maryland Stack I with 3 backs behind the QB, double tightend and run it down your throat with McIntyre. 2 HUGE backs in the backfield in front of McIntyre, Nutter and Taylor who block well. I personally think that running the ball will be Fleming's best bet. They are a much better team than they were early in the season. But I still look for Russell to win the game.

From what I have seen of Fleming's stack-I they keep their line toe to toe. This is alot like what we used against Russell when we beat them in 2003. If Russell comes out and plays flat like they did against us this year it could get scary for them. Fleming has bigger, stronger and faster kids than we do.

It's upset time, At Fleming so I'm sayin 32 to 26, FLEMING

Russell needs to come out more focused and ready to play. Talent doesn't always win.

The last two first qtrs both in the Estill Co. and East Carter games have not boded well for our run defense. In each of those games we got manhandled on the line of scrimmage allowing the other team to move the ball at will. This needs to be fixed. Adjustments were made against both of these weaker teams, but if and when we meet up with better competition we need to be able to stop the run.

You scared them all off with your first 5 posts!!

Your kidding right .... Toe to toe or end to end Fleming doesn't beat us ...

Estill manhandled us in 2003 , both lines , backs and linebackers .... Fleming has had big kids for years now and they stand up , make us look like Jim Thorpe All American or Run to Daylight ....

Team that beats the Devils always does it at the line of scrimmage with physical play. Fleming doesn't play well enough at man on man fundamental football ... Skill wise they generally match the devils ... Line wise , no match .. Devils big , but I might go now ... but only flat might be on my old car ...

Estill exploited our soft middle this year , but they didn't have the horses - no defense as in 2003 ... You guys were tough in 2003 ...

I expected to see you folks again that year what happened ....

(update of Russell #11 Nick Lewis)

Heard from Nicks parents this evening. Nick's doctor visit went great. He is now conditonally released to do Cardio and tossing. And if there is no

setbacks doing those things, the doctor will release him for full-contact next thursday in time for 1st round of playoffs.

They would probably only use him on that Friday in an emergency and give him a week to get back into better game shape.

Great news. The team really needs his leadership on the field.

Russell hasn't had to play there starters for more than a half in the last 5-6 weeks...Fleming isn't a great team, but, they are alot better than Russells recent competition and it'll take more than a half to pull away from Fleming...This game is just what Russell needs right now, but, the question is, can they turn up the cruise control they've been on for the last month and a half...IMO, they'll come out hot and then find out Fleming doesn't go away so easily and get frustrated and Fleming will build confidence as the game goes on and make a few big plays to pull the upset....Bad news is, when they meet again in 2 weeks, Russell will show why they're one of the favorites to win it all.....

We got to Erlanger and played Lloyd Memorial in the post season, and they just played a defensive scheme against us that we had never seen. We were fairly new to the offense at the time. I would say that if we had more experience in the double wing we probably would have seen each other again.

Fleming is better, now alot better I wouldnt go as far as to say that much better. A 2 td spread doesnt justify to me Fleming being that much better than East and West. After all they did give up 21 points to West with their Varsity in.

Russell wins big:

Russell- 42

Fleming- 7

Devils win big again

Are you kidding me, Fleming is alot better than East or West...West got pummelled by Bath Co and Estill Co, 2 very weak teams and East was pummelled by 40 by Raceland, whos pretty good, but Fleming would compete with Raceland and possibly even beat them..

"What goes around, comes around..."

The Panthers have spoiled senior night for their last two opponents; first at West Carter and last week at Morgan County. This week, the Russell Red Devils will do the spoiling as they win big on Fleming County's senior nite.

Russell 38

Fleming Co. 17

:fire:

Fleming may be the best competition Russell has faced in a while but the Red Devils will coast once again.

Fleming has to get good line play to give Russell a game. The last few years we have had some athletes, and a very good quarterback. However well Fritz played in those games, he was running for his life in every one of those games. With the type of team we have this year, I still think the best way to attack Russell would be to run the ball. Will it work, or will the coaching staff decide to go that route, I really don't know. I know with the way the weather is supposed to be, I know the coaching staff would want a dry night to mix up run and pass. In all previous games with wet field conditions, we have primarily ran the ball. I look forward to a nice rainy evening in Flemingsburg, we haven't had a good duck drowner this year during the football games like we had last year against Lewis and Morgan.
