Just a little FYI on this series:

My grandfather played for Male back in the 30's. I still have scrapboook with a C-J article about the game. If you think T vs. X is big today, then consider this: In (I believe) 1935 the ENTIRE FRONT PAGE (not the Sports page, the FRONT page) was devoted to this game. A team photo of Male and a mugshot of their coach was above the fold and the same for Manual below the fold. This was so much bigger than even any college rivalry at the time.

Also, Male 35, Manual 13...for my grandpa!

sports fan,

Can you spot your Granddad in the 1935 photo below?

H,

You are a very good archivist. I enjoy the history and the strolls down memory lane that you provide. Thank you.

H...Any photos of the last two years with Fangman drilling those field goals? Field goals will be a non issue this Friday.

Sounds like you are predicting a HUGE WIN by the Bulldogs. Does Manual even need to show up?

dalen, just having some fun. Read all the support going to the Rams on here. We are outnumbered...But its only Wednesday. We won a huge game last Friday and usually after a big win there could be a let-down, but this is Male-Manual and our kids will be ready.

That is cool. I wouldn't expect Male to let down much. Big Rivalry game, big doings around the school with this being the 150th anniversary of the school and a lot of activities going on. If anything they may get distracted by all that but it is doubtful.

No. if you have a three way tie (manual beats Male) Then you go to non Dristrict wins. Out of state Teams dont count. Thus Male has wins over ballard, Hoptown,Senca, Those teams wins are what counts. I think they have combined for 12 or so wins. Manual has Warren central, eastern, meade County. I think those teams have combined for 12 or so wins. So If Manual wins and Their three teams win, then it would go ST X, Manual, Male, PRP. If male wins Then it Goes Male, St X, manual, PRP. So the game does matter. only having 9 games hurt male.

Out of state wins do count, as do any district wins against any teams not involved in the 3 way tie.

You pick your 4 teams based on the number of wins they have, and if a district team or an out of state team gives you more points than a non district, in state team, you can use them.

H,

According to an E-mail reply I just got back from the CJ High School Sports Reporter who wrote the article in today's paper, the KHSAA is the one who got it wrong. He agreed with me (See my post #36 in this thread).

He said, "The KHSAA made the same mistake I did because they have Male listed as the district winner in the standings on their Web site". He new about the the tie breaker rule and completely forgot about it. He is planning on printing a retraction in tomorrow's CJ Edition.

Thus he confirmed that IF Manual beats Male it would move X to the top as the #1 seed based on stength of schedule. Sorry to all my Male friends out their, but all I can say is:

:dancingpa GO RAMS!:dancingpa

I looked for a retraction on line @ CourierJournal.com and could not find it, apparently the CJ doesn't print their retractions/corrections on their web page. I located a print version here at work and found it on page A2 with all their other corrections. It Reads:

"District Football Title

Because of incorrect information from the Kentucky High School Athletic Association, a high school notebook yesterday in Sports erroneously said that Male had already clinched the Class 4-A, District 4 football title."

H...Any photos of the last two years with Fangman drilling those field goals? Field goals will be a non issue this Friday.

I hope you're right. I didn't expect last year's game to come down to the wire. If the weather stays rainy through Friday, the field may be messy as it was over at Manual Stadium.

I was at the school for the parade and party but didn't see the field, but even with it being wet it won't be as bad as the Stadium was. We didn't have very many home games this year so the field is in great shape. Manual Stadium was used almost every Friday and some soccer tourneys.

(H's Avatar Wed)

"Ray Baer played football at Manual from 1921-22, become an All-American at Michigan, and coached the Crimsons to 5 straight wins over Male from 1938-1942. His winning percentage (.791) is the highest of any Manual coach."

The Street that runs in between Manual and the practice field is Ray Baer Blvd.

Ask and ye shall receive...

This one was made after "Malegate":D

QB gets contacted "in bounds" then falls out of bounds with NO timeouts remaining. Male scrambles the FG team onto the field but clock is stopped!!!

FG team lines up after a delay in spotting the ball and gets a delay of game penalty. Moves the ball back 5 yards and .....it's good! UNREAL!!!:creepy:

By the way, Male players made a few BIG plays to get the ball into FG range.

Imagine that!!!
