Was Mescher a starter? Wilder is a pretty substantial loss correct?

Mescher was the starting left fielder last season

I'm hearing rumbles around Bigby/Remkes corridor that there are others not playing due to Coach Gray's style. Any truth to that?

What exactly is his "style" that may keep players from coming back?

You know exactly what his style is. It’s been discussed as nauseum. Discipline/accountability which seems to be a new approach in comparison to the previous regime.

Discipline and accountability. .. what exactly is that? Be on time? Don't miss practice? Or is it a lot of micro management rules? I am trying to figure out why discipline and accountability would cause someone not to play.

Especially only a weeks worth of practice into the season.

Actually, I wasn’t sure if that was the case. Thank you though.

Yeah I would think kids who are choosing not to play baseball are choosing not to play for their own reasons. Mescher for example - no way that kid is running track because of some concerns about discipline and accountability. He has zero concerns about that. He is a senior and he probably is trying track just for fun and something different to do because baseball is not in his future.

I've heard the exact opposite, but my info is from the patio of Mccallister's and Starbucks.

Coach Gray's style is you will work hard and be held accountable.. Pretty simple if you ask me..

Kevin, is top notch. If you don't want to play for him because of his so called style. I don't know what to say........ Kevin will ask no more of a player, than their best. Best person, best student, best team mate, best player. However, he expects your best every hour, of everyday. The thing is, he wants the player to want to be the best, the best man he can be.

I have known Mescher since kindergarten, he is not playing and running track to get ready for college. He has been talked to by 2 team about kicking in college and wants to have more time to practice kicking and baseball takes a lot of time.

Thanks for confirming. Mescher not playing baseball has nothing to do with Coach Gray.

They had a few seniors quit during conditioning. Saw the writing on the wall with playing time. Beechwood has a very strong Junior and Sophomore class. One was working and missed a ton of time with work. Coach Gray and his staff met with each of them individually to make sure it was nothing to do with them. One said the conditioning and practices were too hard, he likes to do his own thing and doesn't like the structure. The others wanted to work more and didn't want to put that much time in to baseball. It's a culture change for the boys of Beechwood for sure. Kids will be held accountable and work hard, seems to work pretty well for Coach Rash and the football team.
