Next week's Bellevue-Dayton game winner gets the 4th spot.

Or this could be all together wrong. Dayton's in as the four seed.

Congrats to Coach Lickert and the boys.

I have two words to describe Coach Borchers...Class Act!!!

Feel the love.

I forgot there would be a 3-way tie.

Buddy Lunsford ended up catching a school tying record of 14 catches in 1 game, tying Donald Weaver who also had 14 catches in a game in 1999. Buddy ended up with 14 catches for 142yds and a td plus he also caught the 2pt pass. Jarrod Rouse ended up 17-33 for 175 yds and 1 td with no ints. And as future coach stated injuries really hurt especially when the starting center goes down with a season ending knee injury. though the injuries hurt hats off to dayton they just played a pretty good ball game theqb from Dayton hurts all night he carried the ball 20 times for 201 yds and 3 tds.

what happened to the center... you could hear him screaming in pain all the way in the stands... never something you wanna see.... especially in a big game...

It was a great game for the Lunsford kid... he came up with Ludlow's biggest play of the night on a 30+ yard pass play on a big third down when Ludlow was having trouble moving the ball. Their run game was nearly non existant but their short passing game got going a little bit there in the second half but it seemed that whenever Dayton was on their heels they would come up with a few big plays in a row or Ludlow would make one for them (sack, penalty, overthrow, etc.)

Dayton pretty much owned the first half aside from a big stop on 4th from Ludlow inside their own red zone on the first drive of the game. It looked as if the tides were changing though when Ludlow turned a turnover into a TD to cut the lead to 5 with 8 minutes to go, but thats when it seemed like Dayton turned it on. Dayton's line isn't huge , but they aren't small either, and on that ensuing drive it just seemed that Ludlow really had no answer for them. To the tune of probably at least 6 yards a pop.... With about 4 minutes left from about the 20 Hightchew took it over the left side down to the 1 and a sneak gave an overwhelming answer to the best Ludlow drive the whole game. Ludlow tried to respond getting a few more nice completions in the short passing game, but the clock caught up to them, a 4th down incompletion, a couple first downs and that was it... It was another great game as expected from a great small school river rivalry... Ludlow is going to be around for a while and have a great leader in Coach Borchers... he's a class act... Congrats to Dayton on their first playoff birth in a while...

:thumb: Great Post I agree with everything you said. After Ludlow got the touchdown to cut it to 13 to 8 with about 8 minutes to go the game Dayton answered right back with a touchdown of their own...The play of the game though was on that drive by Dayton after Ludlows touchdown. Ludlow had them 3rd and 8 and Dayton completed a 30 yard pass for a first down. This is one of the plays that injuries hurt Ludlow. That was the side of the field Kyle York usually plays at Corner, and most likely that guy would have not got behind him. The guy who replaced Kyle was Joe Gier, and he broke his ankle in the first quarter so he was out. Then Jarrett Rouse who is a starting corner and started to play on that side since Kyle wasn't playing and he already had one interception, but he hurt his ankle on the touchdown drive for Ludlow, and he couldn't play corner on the next drive. So Ludlow had a sophomore in there who hasn't really played any varsity corner at all this year, and he got sucked up on that pass play and allowed the long route to get behind him. If Jarrett or Kyle was in for that play, they probably woudn't have allowed that guy to get behind them...So that play right there really decided the game, because if Ludlow stops them there it would have been 4th down, and would have made Dayton have to make a choice to punt or go for it which would have been a tough choice since it was around midfield. And Ludlow would have had all the momentum.. So Give Dayton coaches credit though because they took advantage like good teams would when a team has a young inexperienced corner in there and they went right at him. Besides that play though that corner did a good job filling in, that play though IMO was the play of the game.

So once again congrats to Dayton on the win, and making the playoffs. I know I will be rooting for them in the playoffs!

Just read that Dayton held Ludlows rushing game to NEGATIVE 24 yards last night.... WOW:eek:

Yeah dayton did shut down the Ludlow running game pretty good last night. But the negative 24 yards is a little misleading, because they took away yards from the rushing on sacks, and there was a couple of bad snaps when the QB just had to dive on the ball. So when your in shotgun that is a good 5 to 7 yard loss right there. Then in the second half all Ludlow did was really throw passes the whole time. I not trying to take anything away from Daytons defense because there defense did a great job stopping the running game yesterday, but the negative 24 yards is a little misleading....:thumb:

I also might add in there that he was the number 4 or even 5 receiver going into the year, but with Chris Poe getting kicked off after the first game of the year, then season ending injuries to Kyle York and Elijah Mays. It allowed Buddy Lunsford to show how good of a receiver he is, by having a record day at Ludlow...I just wanted to point this out because in the prediction thread we were talking about the receivers for both teams, and this shows that Ludlow definitely did have a very good bunch of receivers, because all of them have had big games at some point this year. Just injuries have kept them all from really being able to play together. Injuries is really the story of the year for this Ludlow team...

Congrats to Dayton. I hear the Ludlow punter looked good... :sssh: ;)

He didnt do to bad,he had 1 bad punt out of 8.

Not bad for a guy who was the third team punter and he had only 1 punt in a varsity game and that was because of an injury. Kyle york was 1st team punter then Joe Gier got hurt last week against HC and thats when Stewy got his 1st punt in a game

Congrats to the Devils on a big win. Good luck in the post season.
