Johnson Central/Mason County predictions

Featured Replies

Dino how can you say Mason County has a solid defense when they have given up 105 points and Johnson Central has only given up 79 points. To me it looks like JC has the better defense.

I never said that Johnson Central does not have a solid defense. They have a great defense - but Mason County may have the best defense that the Golden Eagles have faced this season.

Mason County held undefeated 4A Lafayette to the fewest points that it has scored all season (21). Lafayette is averaging 31 ppg and scored 25 points in its win over previously undefeated Henry Clay last week. I hope that those who are predicting that Johnson Central will score 40 points or more against the Royals are correct, but that would be a pretty amazing accomplishment. I expect a much closer game than most people outside of Mason County expect.

The GRIMM reaper will take another vicitim, the "45" will be loaded and black train will be ready to roll friday night. Maybe Mason County will let JC bring all of their "toys" to the game... the cannon, air horn, music during the game, PA guy, sound system, fireworks and the tunnel.

I've been out of town for a few days, so please excuse the delay in congradulating JC on the win last friday. I didn't get to see the game but I did get to listen in. No excuses... my Tomcats got a good ole fashioned whipping. Hope to see you guys in a couple of weeks. If I know the Tomcats and their staff, we'll make a better showing. :thumb:

I predict...

OH I see now what you are saying. I just took it the wrong way. Please accept my apologies. But I still say JC has the best defense. Yeah I would say Mason will have the best D of anyone that JC has played this year cause they sure haven't played anyone yet whose defense has caused them any kind trouble. Good luck to both teams and hope for an injury free game.

Lakeview... where have you been the past 2 days. I was sure that you had some comments about this game.

And to all those wondering how my name is pronounced...

No apology needed, Flipper. I don't always say things as clearly as I could.

Another factor to consider about the Royals' defense is that Mason County has played a tougher schedule than Johnson Central. That makes their defensive numbers even more impressive. However, looking at Johnson Central's stats, many of the points scored against the Golden Eagles have come with the second and third string defense in the game. My gut feeling is that the Golden Eagles have a better defense than the Royals, but it is really hard to compare them on paper.

There is no doubt which team has the best offense, but Mason County's defense has kept the Royals in games when its offense has spit and sputtered. If Johnson Central can put up a lot of points on the Royals' defense, it will bode well for the team's playoff chances.

Big game, I have had some people tell me they still think that Mason is better than Ashland even through Ashland won. I would like to see JC open up the passing game a little more, I think they will need it to go deep in the playoffs. I believe that JC scores the most points on Mason this year, but by only one touchdown.

It would not surprise me if we play them again 2 weeks later.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong but I can only remember Johnson Central's starting defense giving up 2 touchdowns all year.

I don't know exactly but I think it may have been 3 or 4. I know they haven't given up many at all.

I think that South Point, Bryan Station and Ashland each scored 1 TD.

I can remember three but there could have been more. Ashland, Bryan Station, and Southpoint all had one.

Paintsville did, but the play to get them down there was against the back-ups.

Does anybody else think that 2 flags are running up and down the field when Brady Hamilton (#32) is playing. Those cleat covers are awesome.

Wow! One of the biggest games of the year. Good luck Eagles. Unfortunately I will be working. So Eagle fans be careful and make sure you hoot and holler a little extra for old Lakeview. I would love a stromboli sandwich! lol

It is easier said than done but shut down Grimm and Mason has a chance to win. Let Grimm run wild and it will be a long night for the Royals. I can't wait to see this game!!!! :ylsuper: Good luck to both teams.
