What are the odds history can repeat for Mason County? Two years ago they also took a beating on senior night at Brossart, but then ran the table to a 10th Region title.

Great basketball game tonight at Brossart on senior night. So many ties and lead changes for the first half of the game. Brossart got on a roll and scored 50 points in the second half.

Best wishes to the big man Perkins for Mason. Got hit in the head after a bucket and went down. Looked very woozy afterwards and never returned.

Game was tied at 50 and Mason turned the ball over six or seven straight times for layups for Brossart. Perkins took a shot to the head and of course no foul. I would be surprised to see him play in the District next week. Just wait and see.

Through the majority of the first three quarters there were 9 ties and 18 lead changes - that's a lot!!! Then with 1:48 left in the third period the Mustangs took a 52-50 lead and then continued on the 13-4 run to close out the quarter with a 63-54 lead.

The run continued into the fourth quarter as the Mustangs ran all of the way out to a 73-57 lead, in a time span that saw Brossart Junior Bryan Duffy score 12 of his game-high 18 points on the night. The Mustangs put five double-figure in the box score. In addition to Duffy, J.D. Schumacher netted 17, Carson Schirmer and Ethan Eilerman 12 each, and Zach Hamberg 11. The Mustangs had a 22/27 to 9/18 advantage from the free-throw line.

 

The Mustangs close out the regular season with a 15-11 record and will await the Scott Eagles in the 37th District Semi-Finals next Wednesday, February 21st at 7:30pm at the Campbell County Middle School.

 

The Royals head to the post-season with a 15-13 mark, and will play Augusta next Monday at 8pm in the 39th District Tournament at home in the Mason County Fieldhouse.

Incidental contact after a made basket so no foul. #12 from Brossart apologized after the accident. I pray for a speedy recovery for the young man so he can finish out his senior year on the court.
