NEW ORLEANS -- Pelicans All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins will undergo surgery to repair a torn left Achilles tendon and will miss the remainder of the season, league sources told ESPN.

 

An MRI late Friday night confirmed an initial diagnosis of a full tear of the tendon, league sources told ESPN.

Wow, absolutely hate to hear this. The Pelicans are one of the teams I was most excited to follow as the playoff scenario unfolds.

I hope Boogie can bounce back from the surgery. Brutal injury and it can be tougher on guys that size.

 

Didn't Elton Brand have a similar injury & surgery years ago? My recollection is that he never quite bounced back from it.

Most are never the same after an achilles tear.

Seems like he has had problems with that one area,ankle as well, for a few years now. Hasn't he missed many games over the years with ankle/achillies issues.

So much fun watching he and Davis together, I really hate this for him.

Sucks for him. I think most western conference teams are probably relieved. That would have been one heck of a tough 1st round series for one of the top 3 seeds in the West.

He was having such a solid season. Really hate to see that.

Injuries like this make me cringe. It is crazy how landing just a little off balance can have such repercussions. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and keeps his weight under control while being immobile.

Just awful news. Boogie was having an All-NBA 1st Team caliber season. Really hope he's able to fully recover physically, and he can get over the mental aspects of it as well. That's unfortunately always a concern with him.
