I don’t have anything against Mason county!! No grudges or anything. I just voice my opinion of what is going on!! This happens in football also!! A lot of talented players but don’t get to show what they can do!! Many kids I talk to told me that that is the reason they won’t play just to sit on bench. I understand what they are saying because I was at every practice and see what they are saying.

Your last sentence shouldn't happen at Mason. Something is wrong somewhere.

Don't be shocked. Our kids could care less if we lost by 50 and that we had not lost to Lewis since 1996. Every kid has their own agenda and winning is not one of them.

One of the Mason parents went after a Mason assistant coach after the game. Had to physically taken down by Lewis County’s AD. Not getting into specific names.

I can see the similarities from Biggs tenure at Ashland. It got to the point that kids didn't want to come out and play and that was the straw that broke the camels back. There were a few Ashland fans as well as non Ashland fans that said it was due to a drop in talent, but there was talent walking the halls that just didn't want to play. I was never a proponent of that theory and also told people that it would take a few years to turn the program back around.

 

Look at them now... The 16th may be a "weak" region in general, but a few years ago Ashland wasn't within sniffing distance of a 16th region championship. However in present time, things are looking up and up every year, the kids want to play, etc.

 

I'm not going to come out and say that Biggs is the problem, but whatever problem Ashland had under his reign seems to have followed him to Mason County. Call it what you want, personally I think he is a great coach, but I also believe he has a hard time connecting with the players and making things "work" so to say.

Buddy Biggs was regional runner up 4 times at Ashland. That’s more than sniffing that’s knocking on the door. However those weren’t in his last couple seasons at Ashland.

The Devine kid is a Senior. And Biggs and the whole staff knew, that he could play. He is a 3 sport athlete, who is good at all the sports he plays. He is being recruited for Football as well as baseball actively. Biggs was giving the others the chance to play, because Devine wasn’t able to play in spring or summer, due to baseball and football. But, now...he has gotten his rhythm and he will continue to put up numbers to help his team get wins. Most people remember him playing as a youngster on the AAU circuit! Averaged double figures in just about ever game, if I remember correctly. Most were in the 20+ point range. He was on TriCounty Thunder. Played against most of the Campbell Co players regularly. A very good player! And like someone else said...there are several other good players on that team and walking the halls at Mason Co and other schools, that came from Mason Co.

You are correct on all points. Regardless, my statement was true as well, Ashland wasn't within sniffing distance of a regional championship his last few years there. If my memory is correct, his last season there was Ashland's worst season in history.

I knew of the Devine that starred in football, but assumed the one that's been dropping points in the last 2 games was a freshman or 8th grade brother of his. Does anyone know if Jaylen Lofton is hurt or why his numbers have dropped of late? I thought he was their key before the season started how far they would go and he looked good the first month, don't even see his name in the box scores in many games of late

I believe Sam Kumler is playing. I’m not 100% on that. But, I will find out. Yes, they’re very talented as well. If I know this group of Seniors...that will not consume them. They were without some parts to the puzzle. But, I definitely am not taking anything from Lewis at all. I know a lot of those kids and parents. And those guys played one hell of a game!!! And, they are well deserving of that win. They wanted it!!! And they took it!!!
