Cooper 61 Highlands 43

Final from Ft Thomas.

Heard Kunkel didn't play well at all managing only 2 pts on 1-8 shooting. Sullivan benched him and McNeil the final 14 min is the word I got.

Maybe he was resting them after a busy holiday schedule.

Interesting but not surprised if true. Seen this more than once from Coach Sully over the years. No one is exempt from “The Process”.

Can a Mod change the score? Final was 61-43 Cooper.

I got a lot of updates on this one. Game could have been not nearly as close.

Interesting I heard the Birds cut it to 11 in 2nd half when Sully pulled the starters. The Jags made like 8 or 9 FT's to end the game.

Cooper could have won this game by 30 plus if Sully wouldn't have pulled the starters to make his point. Chris McNeil was having a really nice game. Cooper was in a little funk last year when they came back from those tourney's and that is all it was tonight. Sometimes you have to let your starters play through it, but Sully felt it was in the best interest of the team to sit them. He knows his team the best and knows what is going to make them better in the long run.

He is the best coach in the 9th and top 5 in state for sure.

He must have been playing blindfolded.

Rick Rude covered it for me.

Looked a little tired to me to be quite honest. They have played a lot of games in the last couple of weeks. Yes Sully did pull his starters for not performing up to his standards, but on the flip side he realized that his team minus Kunkel and McNeil could more than compete with the Birds.

Highlands does play hard, I will give them that. The big kid is a little raw, but they really do not have the ability to get him the basketball outside of Roberts.

Kunkel didn't even try to attack when he was on the floor. Ty Houston had a nice first quarter. He will definitely see more minutes as we enter the last half of the season...

While I know that Sully is the strict disciplinarian I am pretty sure this team is little tired. As Rick Rude put it, this team had two serious tourney's over the holidays so I am sure that had a little to do with it but I also heard that Coach had to reel some players in and give them a reality check on who was "driving the bus". Quite certain that will be fixed immediately by the next game.

Glad to see others step up their games and get the W. They all will be tough from here on out.

I was told Cooper treated this game like a scrimmage to get more players involved in the process.

Interesting observations. Stay focused, develop depth, stay humble, stay hungry, do you and outwork yesterday!
