Will Elliott County be in a position to make run for another 16th region title?

Why not?

Why not?

Just throwing the question out for discussion. Elliott County did lose Chase Porter to graduation and Korbin Spencer to transfer and are starting a point guard Kole Whitley who had almost no varsity playing time last year. Also, they had a 2-4 record going into the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic at Lexington Catholic. Most opinions seem to be that Boyd County or Ashland are the teams who will win the 16th.

Where did Spencer transfer to

I want to say Hargrave Academy.

Will Elliott County be in a position to make run for another 16th region title?

In my opinion the answer is no, but a long time until regional tournament.

From my nearly 15 years on BGP, I've found that these type of discussions never happen too early when it comes to the 10th and 16th regions.

Without Spencer I don’t think Elliott County has much of a chance to win the 16th. Pretty much zero.

I actually picked them to win it in my pre-season November Sweet 16 Contest but that was before I discovered that Spencer had transferred.

I don't see the Lions getting out of the 16th, mostly because of Spencer's transfer. There's still some talent there, but it seems like Boyd or Ashland's to lose.

I am told, though, that there is considerable talent coming up through the system in Sandy Hook. I guess we'll see.

I want to say Hargrave Academy.

That would be correct. Hargrave Military Academy.

Who will win the 16th region All A? Elliott County and Morgan County have to be the favorites--who wins out of those 2?
