The press continues to haunt the CCH guards. With all the depth at CCH, they dont seem to have a backup point guard they trust.

 

I hope the minutes Aiden and CJ are logging dont wear them out over this stretch of 4 games in 4 days.

Brannen played shooting guard and some point. He is doing well at Beechwood.

 

The bench guards for CCH are:

 

Nowak - who is primarily used for defense.

Lenihan - who is under utilized, and

Luke Thelen - who is never utilized

 

All seniors.

 

No juniors at point.

Luke Lenihan was not on bench last two games? Any word? Sick, hurt? Would of been nice to spell Ruthsatz during his tough stretch. CJ made huge shots and really did a nice job Holding Ballard’s top scorer down. Like the rotation with Mayer,Davin,Fleek. Quality minutes doing the dirty work.

Ruthsatz really struggled with Ballard's quickness, especially early on. With Ballard forcing tons of Turnovers. They just couldn't come capitalize and had an abysmal three point shooting night.

CCH players will make the 3 hour commute with their parents all week. Even if they win their 9 PM game tomorrow night to advance to the finals, they still go home.

 

I guess the Catholics cant afford an overnight. Lol. In all seriousness, I think their travel budget all goes towards the Florida trip next week.

From the game thread, someone mentioned Lenihan quit the team. I actually was impressed with the Sophomore PG for the JV team (sorry name escapes me), when I watched them against LaSalle. I know Varsity is a whole different animal, but with Lenihan gone (what I read, not sure if true), they may want to try and get the Sophomore some run. If they plan on bringing home the hardware at the end of the year, they will need to develop some PG depth.

Not sure of the relevance of the Cooper references in this thread but, yes, the Jags will rarely, if ever, outsize any team they play this year, same situation as last year. Cooper’s 2pt loss this year vs. Hilliard Darby was a pretty big game IMO.

 

My only mention of the turnovers was from other posters mentioning CCH having a lot of turnovers and maybe not being deep with backup ball handlers. Wasn’t a slam but an observation from others who seem to know the team.

I honestly am not sure of the name, just liked the kids game. He was under control and could really shoot the ball.

 

There were actually a couple of guys on that team I was impressed with. CCH is loaded in the front court, so won't see them until next year most likely.

I hate it that Lenihan quit, but at the same time understand why. The writing was on the wall. He played really, really well last year in the 10 games he started while Ruthsatz was out hurt. I don't believe CCH lost a game during that stretch. If I'm not mistaken he ran the point the whole game against Moeller. Went for 10points, 8 assist, and only 1 turnover. But once Ruthsatz came back Lenihan went straight back to the bench and forgot about the rest of the season. Hardly ever seen the floor again.

My guess is he was going to be unwilling to just be a practice guy all year with no opportunities to get on the floor. Everyone knows Ruthsatz, And Fredrick are going to play 95% of every game regardless of score or performance. Walters will play 80% of every game regardless of score or performance. That leaves very few minutes left at the other two spots for Fleek, N Thelen, AJ, M Mayer, Nowack, Davin, L Thelen, Deere.

With three players gobbling up so many minutes that doesn't allow others to get minutes. N Thelen has been playing well and getting more minutes.

I think the kid getting the short end of the stick right now is Fleek. That kid can play. But since the football players have returned his minutes have diminished a lot.

You can't argue with the success of the program, but I do feel CCH could use their bench more with little drop off. I think it would help some of those kids (Fredrick, Ruthsatz) to keep fresh legs and play even better than they have been. Especially when you are playing in a tournament with several days in a row of games. That would be scary because they both have been tearing it up.
