colonel-fan
From Mark Schmetzer of the Cincinnati Enquirer: C.J. Fredrick and his Covington Catholic basketball team were determined to not be pushed around by Moeller Tuesday night. The scar on the senior guard’s nose proved the Colonels brought an extra measure of toughnesss to their home court. The Covington Catholic senior overcame five turnovers to score 23 points, 18 in the second half, and the Colonels held off the Crusaders for a 58-53 win in a battle of No. 1 teams before a raucous crowd. 75center
Congrats to the blue Colonels. I know Moeller was ranked nationally but I just liked Cov Cath in this one. The Colonels could have back to back special seasons for sports this year, IMO. Epic times at CCH!
colonel-fan
Complete stats courtesy of Moeller: Basketball - Game Statistics CovCath hit 13/14 on free throws. Much needed in a close game.
colonel-fan
Epic times at CCH! The talent level in the top three classes at CovCath in multiple sports is crazy high. Just on a really good cycle right now.
colonel-fan
The game video is still up on the CovCath Facebook page if anyone wants to watch.
Tiger1
Yes Cooper I haven't seen Cooper or CovCath, but it sure sounds like CCH might have distanced themselves from Cooper right now.
Tiger1
Depends on your idea of "close". My idea of close is within 10. So, in your opinion Lawnboy, do you think anyone can come this close to CovCath?
ManOfTroy
High level game high school game. Great talent on both sides. Free throws were the difference and that killed Moeller. Shocked at how Coach Kramer handled the last two minutes. They let CCH run off over a minute when it was a six point game and their pressure forced three turnovers in the last three or four minutes. Didn't go into desperation mode until the one minute mark when it was too late.
Budman
My idea of close is within 10. So, in your opinion Lawnboy, do you think anyone can come this close to CovCath? I am bias but I truly believe Cooper wins the region again. The improved play of Chris McNeil and Braydon Runion give them a good chance of repeating. Billy Costigan
Love seeing NKY hoops beat up on the GCL! I don't follow closely but CCH athletics seems to be on another level recently.
Tiger1
I am bias but I truly believe Cooper wins the region again. The improved play of Chris McNeil and Braydon Runion give them a good chance of repeating. I definitely think Cooper is the only team that can compete with CovCath for the 9th region title. I am looking forward to seeing these two teams duke it out.
Lawnboy13
My idea of close is within 10. So, in your opinion Lawnboy, do you think anyone can come this close to CovCath? Once the Mayer's and Lenihan return to basketball form, I don't think so.......much to the chagrin of my Cooper friends. tark the shark
Moeller and Cooper usually make you play at their tempo, which is obviously to their advantage. CCH was able to turn that around last night against Moe, should be interesting if they can do the same against Cooper come January 12th.
Mr. Sixer
Once the Mayer's and Lenihan return to basketball form, I don't think so.......much to the chagrin of my Cooper friends. Interesting. This year's CCH team must be head and shoulders better than last year's team.
MentschTrachtGottLacht
Interesting. This year's CCH team must be head and shoulders better than last year's team. It is better, to be sure. However, I think the biggest factor is the subtraction of Hendrix. He was a defender at the highest level. Tough to replace.
