Sheldon Clark 35 Belfry 29 (OT)

Very, very interesting..

I don't know if I see PBurg falling to SV, so I'm putting my faith in Boyd and Knot.

Personally I don't like putting our playoff positions in these teams, but nothing I can do about it..

really, the only fate you are placing in their hands is home field advantage. Correct?

^ yes thats correct.. all is yet to be decided is the seeding for the district .. the district champion is decided in the playoffs this year.

I've avoided this thread long enough.

Congrats to Sheldon Clark, you deserved the win.

But that doesn't mean I have to like it, or that I shouldn't be disgusted at the Pirates' performance.

I tell you what...you said a mouthful!! I agree wholeheartedly!.

I really feel like Belfry is the better team, just not for this game.

I finally have had a chance to get on here since last weekend.

I think every Belfry fan should thank the Cardinals for being the best alarm clock possible. Not only did the Cards awake Belfry in terms of rolling through the competition but it through up huge red flags at about 4 different problems that needed to be exploited for us to live up to our potential.

1. TACKLING- It was just plain sad... if Belfry locks up then not only do they win but they may even hold SC's offense under 100 yards. The assignments were great, the execution was attrocious.

2. SPECIAL TEAMS- Pike Central demnstrated a weakness in kickoff returns... but SC thrived off it. The Punt Return for a TD plus a Kick Return inside the ten.

3. MENTAL TOUGHNESS- Belfry expected this to be a walk in the park... and once we built a lead we choked worse than the Arizona Cardinals on MNF. This proves that we have got to go for the knockout punch when it's there

4. DROPPED PASSES- We dropped at least 2 easy TD passes.... maybe even three. We finally have a QB who can put the ball where it needs to be, but what good is that if we can't make the play.

You take away the kick returns and dropped passes (the mental errors) and Belfry absolutely routs the Cards in this one.... probably by a score of around 49-14. Belfry was clearly the more talented team,,, but SC EARNED and DESERVED the victory.

Time to see what these Pirates are made up of.... this could be the best thing to ever happen to them, or it could be the demise of a state title calibur team.

Did anyone think the play calling was a little on the conservative side for the Pirates. I don't have a problem with it even if it was, I just get the feeling Haywood was trying to get a win with showing as little as possible knowing these teams will meet again in a few weeks.

Am I off base?

However this is very important because if the #2 seed out of Region 8 were to beat the #1 seed in the second round of the playoffs, then the winner of that game would have to travel to the Region 7 #1 seed which would likely be either Breathitt Co. or Middlesboro, assuming the #1 seed wins the rematch of these 2 teams in the second round of the playoffs. It appears to me that unless something very unusual happens, Belfry will be the 1, SC the 2 and Prestonsburg the 3 seed. Belfry will host SV in the first round and SC will host Prestonsburg. Assuming Belfry and SC win in the first round, Belfry will host SC in the second round. If Belfry wins, Belfry will host the following week's game(Regional Championship). If SC wins, SC will most likely have to travel to either Breathitt or Middlesboro if the team alive from this region(Region 7) is the #1 seed. In the semi-state game, whichever of these 4 teams advances that far will host, even if they are a #2 or lower seed. Am I reading the rules correctly?

I don't think so. The only one that I really question is the 4th down and 1 or maybe even less than 1...right around midfield..late in the 2nd half. SC definitely had some mojo behind them....I don't know of a better way to turn the worm than convert on a 4th down and keep a drive going. BHS was still up 2 scores at that point.
