Lyft vs. Uber

Featured Replies

Is there anyone like me? I'll take taxies all day long. Something about Uber and Lyft makes me incredibly uncomfortable. I feel the same way about Airbnb. I'll do hotels, b&B's etc. I do not want to be in a stranger's home

I know what you are saying, especially the Airbnb, but I feel much more comfy in an Uber than I do a Taxi and I always sit in the front seat with my Uber driver and pick their brain.

To the thread, I use Uber on a regular basis and overall it has been fantastic.

I talked to a pretty smart guy I have had twice as an Uber driver and he drives for Lyft too. He said each company pays you around a third of the total fare but that Lyft pays a few percentage points more. Something like 32 vs. 36%.

I have never used Lyft but because of this thread I downloaded it today and I am ready to go.

I get that, and like I said, I’ve had a few sketchy Uber rides recently. But I’d say cab drivers can be pretty scary sometimes as well. And most AirBnb places are just rental properties to begin with and instead of dealing with big realtors you’re just dealing with the property owners directly. I don’t think many out there are renting out their full time homes.

I was in Memphis over the weekend. Took several Uber’s. Asked a driver if drove both and which he preferred. He said Uber pays him better since they started offering the tip option. He said his fares from Uber are from better parts of town and the tip difference makes the pay better.

I have never used either, but as a parent, I love them both. I know my adult children use them both ways, to and from, if they are going out to consume some adult beverages. After they told me they did this, I've recommended it to some friends.

Every time I go to Chicago or Louisville I use Uber. Mostly in Chicago though cause parking is so expensive.

I recommend using uber to and from the airport as well much cheaper than leaving your car at the airport and paying for parking.

I've heard that some airports don't allow Ubers, at least for picking up from the airport. Wonder if that has changed or if CVG has just always allowed it.

I have used one at CVG LAX and O'Hare. Some places may not allow but I would say that will not last much longer as everyone is catching up with the times.

It has been 2-3 years since I heard that, so you're probably right.

I think most airports have worked this out. I know Philly was one of this airports up until late 2016 or so.

"Millennials killed the taxi companies".

Yep. My three ranging from 21-29 years old use Uber and Lyft regularly, none have ever been in a taxi.

Not for me. Fastpark works just fine for me. Cheaper than a round trip even if I stay over a week. Plus I get those frequent parking points for when I go on vacation.

I just looked it up and an Uber from CVG to my house would be $124 one way. No thanks, I can drive for that.

$32.00 from Alexandria, KY. ??? Where do you live?

Fast park is about $8.00 bucks a day.
