With two electric motors up front and one in the rear, the Roadster comes with all-wheel drive. The amount of power being provided to all four wheels is where this car becomes absurd: 7,375.6 lb-ft of torque. No, that’s not a typo. Seven thousand three hundred and seventy-five. That is enough power to rocket the small Roadster from 0-60 mph in 1.9 seconds and Tesla is putting the Roadster’s top speed at over 250 mph.

That's insane!!! I had a car once that went 0 to 60 in 1.9 minutes. It couldn't maintain 60 for long , though.

Cost of the car is obviously going to keep a lot of people away, but I’d assume if you can afford the price tag you can afford the repairs. Any idea on anyone local who’d be able to work on it or how much parts would be? The Bugatti people have to be praying this is a total flop job by Tesla

The torque created by electric cars is ridiculous. It's inevitable that an electric car could beat out any kind of internal combustion engine. No chain reaction to wait for with the electric car...it's just an instantaneous electrical impulse straight to the wheels. Electro-magnets are a cool thing.

We are just scratching the surface of so many technologies. :eek:

That's the beauty of electric motors. The torque is the same from the time you send juice to it as it is at Max rpm. Gas engines make peak torque usually in the mid to higher rpm range, with peak horsepower coming in at the to of the rpm range. Newer cars having more gears have made the performance and fuel milage better by keeping the engine in it's torque and horespower " sweet spot", but it still will not match the torque of electric. With that much torque, you don't need all the gears to get it moving and moving quickly!
