November 10, 20178 yr Previous to me coming out of the closet one of my Catholic parent's other concerns about me was my Metalhead tendencies. They weren't to keen on album covers such as AC/DC's - Highway To Hell, or Iron Maiden's - The Number of the Beast...:lol2: So to meet them halfway with hopes of reliving their anxiety and calming their fears, I presented to them the Christian Metal band Stryper, and while I tried my best to really like them (even seeing them twice in concert while all decked out in yellow and black like a bumble bee), other than this one song that did do it for me, the rest pretty much cheese balled me out. (You should have seen my parents jump to attention with forked fingers and head banging... Just kidding of course). Wow...just check out the high note that ends this tune... What?? Not this one:

And The Eagles still suck (so hubristic that they and Scorpions are among those bands that said "we don't need a 'The' in front of our name." I blame that jerk Don Henley, whether it's on him or not. November 13, 20178 yr To be fair I haven't listened to the entire Kansas catalogue, or anywhere near 10% of it, but I was around 13 or 14 when "Carry On Wayward Son", and "Dust in the Wind" came out, and I really liked those two tunes a lot, and very much still do, but while I had hoped to like more than that by them, nothing resonated with me, and mostly that hyper keyboard sound they had pretty much just annoyed me (Think: "Point of no return"... "How long...do-do-loo-do-do-loo...How long...do-do-loo-do-do-loo...How long 'til the point of no return...no return...do-do-loo-do-do-loo...no return...do-do-loo-do-do-loo..."). I suppose that it's possible that they have other numbers that I might've liked, but the boredom factor was strong enough not to have me delve much deeper.

November 14, 20178 yr I'm a big fan of punk music and The Clash are considered by some as the Godfathers of punk. IMO they should be considered the Godfathers of Bubble Gum punk that is popular today. My choice for the one n done song is Career Opportunities an its good tune that really defined the times and what punk was all about.

My brother bought their greatest hits when we were in High School bc he read the hype in "Rolling Stone. Put that CD in the car and we both just sat there looking at each other dumbfounded. Nothing crazy or anti-establishment at all. Also the Eagles blow.
