Do the even make the "turf shoes" now? Don't teams wear regular cleats now on the new turf fields?

Seems there are turf shoes that are far superior for today's newer generation of turf and may be functional (???) on grass, and then there are the traditional cleats that are far superior on grass. Rest my case on its expensive to be maximumly equipped for both surfaces.

I don’t know any team that is requiring or outfitting their players with cleats specifically for artificial turf. The traditional molded (or replaceable) cleats are completely functional on turf and grass. I don’t see any pro or college players wearing the stubby, artificial turf cleats.

Conditionally I admitted I might be reading "Fake" internet advertising??? Just know there are a couple 6A Jefferson Co. coaches that salivate come Nov. when their home fields aren't pristine and firm.

With more and more schools having turf I think this is less and less of a problem. I do remember several years back when schools would try to get practice time on turf fields before a turf game because it might be the only time all season that happened, especially in rural areas. It doesn't seem like much of a deal anymore.

We're commenting on two different things. Absolutely I agree with your point of playing on poor surfaces makes a huge difference. I was speaking more along the lines of regular play on either surface. Playing on turf isn't "so different" like it used to be.

This time of year grass surfaces are not in very good condition. Add a little rain and it's very slick. Most are Bermuda and its dormant. Also grass fields have a much larger crown that I feel takes a little getting used too.... So after all that I think it's a bigger adjustment for teams used to playing on turf.

I would have thought North Oldham would have been the first, given that's the most affluent part of the county. But the Crestwood/PWV area ain't hurting too bad.

Belfry plays nearly every game on turf, they haven't played many games on grass the past few years.

 

2015 1 regular season game and 0 playoff games

2016 1 regular season game and 1 playoff games (Corbin)

2017 1 regular season game and 1 possible playoff game (Central)

 

I haven't noticed a difference in their play.

I miss the days of only grass fields!

First World Problems...

SK plays on turf at home and have won 3 games this year on grass fields.

I don’t think anyone is saying that a team that plays on turf can’t win on grass. The best team usually wins. But it could play a roll in a close game and tip the scales in favor to the team used to playing on grass.

I don't think it's a huge deal. By this point in the season most teams have played at least a couple games on the "other" surface. I suppose it's a little easier to transition to turf from grass, rather than the other way around. But even if grass is in bad condition due to weather, I think it still affects both teams pretty equally. Bad footing is bad footing, and it's not like any team gets a lot of game situation on a wet sloppy field. This is another aspect of the game that people tend to overthink.
