Boyle and Belfry are the only ones that have shown they "could" win. I'm sure Wayne and Johnson Central "could" win a rematch.

 

Corbin "could" not or has not shown it. Corbin beat Knox by 15. Knox "could" win a rematch with Corbin. Wayne was up 51-7 when subs started coming in against Knox. Knox last two scores was its varsity vs Wayne Jv. Still Wayne won by 23.

 

Isn't the converse true. Wayne or Johnson Central "could win 3A! Probably more "could" win 3A.

Well, all I have said on several posts is brag on Boyle Co since they beat our Cardinals a few weeks ago. If all these posters think they seen the best of Wayne that night, I would love to see them match up against any of these teams you keep saying would beat any teams in 4a. Why start a disrespectful post on another class being so bad.

 

I don't see it as disrespectful. But as a supporter of 4A I could see why some would be upset.

I voted Belfry, Boyle, Corbin, and Central.

 

I would also say that the only class I would put 4A over is 1A and that is dang close.

Think your selling 4A short, yes JC lost to Belfry and the Tomcats. Belfry will steam roll 3A and any team not named Belfry would need a lot of help beating Ashland and Johnson Central in 4A.

I agree that Central is a real contender maybe a 2A instead of 3. Who ever comes out of the east will certainly have earned the honor of playing for a state championship.

Cov Catholic is voluntarily "playing up" into Class 5A with 4A enrollment. Since you are asking a "what if" question. What if Cov Cath were 4A? Any of the 3A's beating them?

Not so sure on Etown anymore... but with what Central did last night I am starting to think they have been slightly overlooked in the 3A pecking order.

 

They just beat PRP handily... the same PRP who beat Bowling Green

 

I really am not sure how good PRP is. I have looked at them all season as the best of a mediocre 6A group in Louisville (outside the top 3). I think there are 8-10 teams in 1A-3A that I would pick to beat PRP and be favorites over the rest of the Louisville 6A teams outside of the top 3. PRP gets credit for beating teams that I think those 8-10 1A-3A teams would all beat.

 

To answer the thread question with 1A and 2A added in, I think these teams all could win 4A:

 

1A - Beechwood

2A - DeSales, Danville, Mayfield, CAL, LCA

3A - Boyle Co., Belfry, Corbin, Central

That would be a very interesting matchup - last year's Belfry and Covington Catholic this year.

I think Belfry, Central, and Boyle County could win 4A.

At some point every class goes thru this it wasn't that long ago just last year an 4-5 years prior that 5A was so down that the top few in 4A could have played against the juggernaut Bowling Green. Would they have won most likely not but they could have beat the vast majority of those teams. Class 6A has and pretty much always will be a one team horse in Trinity. Class 3A up until this year was dominated by Belfry. Yet again this year Belfry is still by most favorited to win. So my point is every year there are those select few teams that are good enough to win in other classes. Why attempt to pick on class 4A if you feel it's that bad then just don't follow the games. I'm sure everyone who is involved with class 4A will continue to support them.

Some of my favorite teams are 4A and I'm not picking on any of them. I hope it's OK with you if I still follow those teams.

 

It is an interesting discussion, and as has been pointed out, there are several 2A teams and a 1A team that could win 3A or 4A as well. That isn't disrespectful to those classes either, just a topic to share opinions on.
