Crazy Reasons for Moving Games

Featured Replies

The Butler County/Todd County Central thread got me thinking about crazy reasons why games might be moved. Obviously heavy rains, like the Friday night of Labor Day weekend this year, could cause a game to be moved forward or backwards. However, I'm talking more about once-in-a-lifetime reasons. Anybody have anything?

For Garrard County, first that pops to mind is the 1994 game with Harrodsburg. Game was started in Lancaster and just before halftime there was a power failure. @GCHS might be able to give more details but it was dangerous (wire on the verge of dropping, I believe) and the bleachers were cleared. After a short wait the game was moved to Lincoln County (10 miles down the road) and the second half was played at the conclusion of the Lincoln game (I believe they had just finished off Somerset, @Mr.Network might can help on that). It was odd to move mid-game and the game ended very late, which was also unusual.

Harrodsburg won 29-20 on a late Craig Yeast touchdown run and subsequent two-point conversion.

On year North Bullitt at Atherton was moved because someone had turned all the lights at Atherton’s field up towards the sky. I think it was played the same night at North Bullitt. I wasn’t there just remember it happening, I think it was late 90’s

Pendleton/Brossart was moved last year because Brossart field had glass in it. They had gotten new dirt and the glass turned up during warm ups. Game started at like 9pm that night.

I remember that in 2009 Boyle fans on here had Bell County fans in an uproar. Rebels played their previous playoff games at Centre to avoid their field which was a mess. When week for Bell game many on here posted that the Rebels were moving the game to the turf at Centre rather than the messy field at Boyle. It was a fun time on here. :lol2:

The game was played at Rebel Field.

It was the old field at Campbell County Middle School, once CCHS, as Brossart does not yet have a field of their own. What was more strange is that it took them so long to change the venue. For some strange reason, no one, not either Athletic Directors, game manager or site manager, principals or anyone could get a signal on their cell phone to call anyone about the issue! After trying for nearly half an hour after the game was slated to start, Brossart administration finally agree to travel down to PC to play the game. Craziest thing I have ever been a part of.

BB fans all packed up, including the concessions stand and acted like it was just another home game on a field that they didn't own! It was great!

ps:can't wait for their new field!

Ha, I read that as "grass" and not "glass" the first time. I just thought you were being sarcastic.
