Corbin, by no fault of their own, is in a very weak district. The front end of their schedule was loaded.

At the same time , don't blame Casey for a weak schedule either. They had to get on their feet over the years as well. They deserve success, even though they may not compete with the elite programs, they need to be congratulated for their progress and these kids need to feel great about what they have accomplished. They don't make the schedules. They just go out and compete. Who knows what may happen. This is why you play the games.

Casey has done a great job. I remember seasons where they had 0 wins. Now they are a force to be reckoned with. Great job, Casey County!!!

I agree. The easy teams that are on their schedule were beating Casey Co. just a few seasons back.

 

Casey Co. had success moving the ball on Corbin last year, but seems like turnovers plaqued them. I expect a closer game than most do, something like 28-14.

You're right, had they not turned the ball over last year, that game would have been very close. They moved the ball well on the Hounds last year.

35-7 Corbin

I have not seen a full game of Casey's.. just highlights they have posted and others have posted after playing them.

 

Casey has a nice team. IMHO, this will be the first of two meetings as I think they win two playoff games.

 

Casey has good size, are very well coached, and has some nice players.

The Pendleton kid is a ball player on each side of the football. He is a natural slot WR and has great hands and runs crisp routes. Reminds me of the kid Garrard County had a few years ago, McCoy I think. Very smart player and is an excellent pass defender.

 

Tucker is a hard runner and an absolute load. He looks like he is about 6'2 230. Moves well for his size. He is only a Junior I think. Can see him getting some FCS looks.

 

The QB Campbell does a nice job. He has good height and throws an accurate ball. Not necessarily a cannon, his passes have some loft to them, but he makes very good decisions and runs the Offense very well.

 

Casey has a nice team and one that IMHO is a legitimate Top 10 team in the State. The only problem is I don't see them having an advantage over Corbin in any capacity. They may have a size advantage at the LOS and might be able to grind some clock if they keep pounding Tucker, but in order to beat Corbin you have to expose their weaknesses and Casey just doesn't seem to match up well there.

 

Corbin is vulnerable to three things:

- Speed and high level athleticism in the Second Level

- Their line is good but not great and may be vulnerable to penetration

- Corbin has three or four guys who can catch the ball and hurt you on crossing routes and timing stuff, but lack that guy who can go up and take the ball out of the air or beat his man and a Safety on a deep route.

There is no way anyone can confuse playing Alcoa, Beechwood, Mayfield , Pulaski, and Whitley compared to Barren, Cville, Russell Co, Jtown and Betsy Layne. The only obstacle for Corbin in this game is Corbin. If they play up to potential, then it could get ugly, If not 2 or 3 scores.
