I agree with the Jackson and other dudes, but let's not absolve him completely. He was not good in this game for the first 3 quarters. His Finals numbers look fine due to that 4th Q, but struggled for a good part of that game. Clemapns D is legit.

FSU turned being in this same situation into an Orange Bowl win last year. They have what should be two fairly easy wins in Kent State and Murray State to figure out what kind of team they want to be before heading back into the heart of the ACC schedule...

Same. Last night was painful.

Still slowly processing the waking nightmare I sat through last night.

 

I knew Clemson's defensive line would more than hold their own, but the degree to which Jackson looked absolutely pedestrian under their pressure was startling. The 317 total yards passing belies a 50% completion rate. Especially early in the game, he couldn't help himself, putting several passes behind receivers and putting at least one at a receiver's feet. Reached its nadir with the interception that wasn't anywhere near Jaylen Smith and was easily returned for a touchdown.

 

The other big takeaway was Sirmons' defensive strategy, which was so vanilla I feel like I could've drawn it up myself. It's one thing for an overmatched secondary to get beat downfield; I knew that was going to happen. But to watch their runners constantly have holes opened up in the Louisville defense was awful. Following the score as Todd Grantham's Miss. St. defense held LSU to 7 points wasn't helping my mood last night either.

It's part of what makes the ACC's completely arbitrary divisional structure so frustrating. Clemson and FSU are a recruiting and coaching step well above Louisville. And we're just stuck with them.

 

We're having better recruiting years than we've ever had before and still just so far behind.

Clemson dominated in each facet of the game. It was like watching a high school team play a jv team to be honest. Also they provided the rest of college football with the blueprints to completely shut down Jackson. I know he had some good numbers, but they took him out of the game early and often. Either Louisville will struggle to win games or Clemson is about 14 points better than Bama. Also it looks like Clemson is here to stay for a while, backups came in and didn't miss a beat. I see the Tigers to go undefeated and be the No. 1 in the playoff. They are better than last year somehow, Dabo is the new king of college football. GO TIGERS!

I'll be honest in that I have not followed Bobby Petrino a lot over his coaching career but someone tell me when he ever had a good defensive team to go along with his offense? It seems that Petrino teams have always been able to score points but also never seemed to be able to stop the other team.
