Does your school play the National Anthem??

Should be the first music they learn perfect when preparing before the season so they can be the "pep" band at the game. The halftime show, just a bonus for the fans of a football game.
If only the band was about that anymore! No, now they live and breathe for their competitions. They learn one routine, and that's it. Football games are just something they squeeze in if they have time.

I've thought for a long time that there should be a seperate band that just plays at the games. At one time there was some talk of an alumni band fot that purpose. Guess nothing came of it though.

That is sad but seems to be a trend in today's world. I remember watching my brother & his fellow soldiers get off the plane on his return from Viet Nam, I will never forget this>>>the first thing he did was kiss the earth under his feet. As he walked through the gates there were protestors that were yelling and spitting on them. It was a horrible thing for them to experience.

I bow down to your brother for his service. My brother lost his life 20 years ago while serving in Germany. All this has special meaning to me. In fact, when we first moved to Ky in 1970 from Cincy, my school still sang, "My Old Kentucky Home" and said the pledge each and every morning.

:thumb: :thumb: 100% correct Bf, I don't have anything against band competetions but they have imo a responsibility at the school, functions, ball games, etc..

I like to see teams have a pregame prayer to go with the National Anthem

Thanks!! He is a hero in my eyes as well as all our Service men who sacrifice their lives so that we may be free and live ours. We also said the Pledge Of Allegience before class and I always loked forward to it.

Your brother was also a hero. You & your family should be very proud of the sacrifice he made. Sorry for your loss.

I agree 100%.

People at this school should contact their closest American Legion to take care of this if they do not have the resources to get it played. If they do have the resource people in the community need to step up and get it on the speakers or something. We are a country at war it should be against the law not to play the anthem.

Just on a side note, I went to my cousin's son funeral Saturday in London, Ky and those knuckleheads from that "church" in Kansas were there protesting with their signs like, "God loves dead soliders." All I could think of my cousin died in Iraq so these idiots could do this!
I think this is one protest that should not be allowed because these people went to war for us and gave up their life in doing so they deserve the respect of everyone!!!!!

So very true. These idiots have shown up outside of Ft. Campbell protesting as well. Every month we have a remembrance ceremony for our fallen heroes and they showed up to protest on that very day of the month. Fortunately, there were groups there protesting them as well. May God protect their sorry behinds, because someday they might need it at one of those "protests".

:thumb: I agree. Nice post.

I can't remember attending a Louisville area HS football game and not hearing the playing of the National Anthem before kickoff.

Belfry always plays the anthem and says the opening prayer. I agree it starts at home, parents have got to get back to bringing up their children with a little respect. I thank God every day for our soldiers and their families. We need to remember those that have given all for our country and for those that are still giving each and every day. God Bless our Troops!

When was that ever not part of it?

Well you would think that people would do it on their own but sometimes they don't for whatever reason SO that why I started saying that line.

Well, the actual line is, "Ladies and gentlemen, at this time NKU Athletics asks that you please stand and remove your caps as we honor America with the playing of our national anthem."

Thats taken directly from the pre-game announcements that I have to read off before every game.
