Does your school play the National Anthem??

I thought it was played at all schools. I know it is at mine and most (I think all) of the teams we play. Care to mention which school you are talking about?
My master took me off my tiecord which is in Rockcastle Co. and took me on a away game Friday night on 9-29-06. I was at that game and did not hear it played and I did not get to take my comb off to show my respect.

I served with his dad. My condolences to you and yours. His Dad and Mom are A1 people.

Those people from Kansas are creeps. Don't know how they can do the things they do. And to try to use God for their springboard....

Thank you for your kind words and yes, his mom and dad are A1 people. His dad, Col. Tom is my cousin and just a couple of years older than me. I agree with others in this thread, take off your hat, be quiet, show respect for those who have served, those who are serving and those in the crowd about to serve!

hats should ALWAYS be removed. I can't stand to see people wearing hats during the anthem. During the MNF broadcast in New Orleans the PA guy even asked the crowd to take all hats off, they pan the audience and a bunch of fools are still wearing hats. Very disrespectful.

:thumb: Another good post. I agree and the bad thing on this is that I am afraid that a lot of the kids today are not being taught this at home or at school. My parents taught me this respect at a very young age and I know when I was young (and I am right at 50 now) we had the pledge every morning with hands over our hearts. Thanks to the ACLU and other idiots schools do not do this now along with prayer  (sorry, didn't mean to get off subject). We were taught how to respectfully stand, hats off/hand over heart on the national anthem. God Bless America.

Just on a side note, I went to my cousin's son funeral Saturday in London, Ky and those knuckleheads from that "church" in Kansas were there protesting with their signs like, "God loves dead soliders." All I could think of my cousin died in Iraq so these idiots could do this!

May God Bless you and your family. I can't stand to see displays like this. You are right - your cousin was over there protecting our rights and freedoms as Americans. Prayers go out for your family.

It is always played at Conner and last year's Senior class said the Lord's prayer at their graduation without the Admin's knowledge....they all stood and said it without permission since things like that are "not allowed" in public schools....but they should be and maybe our schools would be much stronger!

Interesting. I love it! Too bad this has to be a form of rebellion. Makes you wonder...

Sorry for your famiy's loss. I'm sorry these freaks scarred up such a solemn ceremony.

What is sad is there is a Federal Appeals Court Judge is Frankfort who found it necessary to strike down the 300 foot barrier on Wednesday of last week. Sounds like politics at work rather than her being a judge without an agenda.

She must have friends in the ACLU who brought the lawsuit in our great state.

That is very bad. I agree that it sounds like a judge was lobbying for a few votes and not to cause an uprising with the ACLU (American Communist Looney's Union). Sadly this judge is one of many around our country today.

:thumb: It sure does.....and I don't think that we are wondering anymore. Sadly, we know what kind of thinking is taking over.

How do you forget something like this. Highlands has played it FOREVER.

Ah, I think they were still in awe over their new "LexCath" lookalike unis. Nothing against LexCath but HHS's colors are "BLUE and WHITE". And the last time I heard them play it, wow!. Should be the first music they learn perfect when preparing before the season so they can be the "pep" band at the game. The halftime show, just a bonus for the fans of a football game.

We play the National Anthem before every Ashland ballgame. From time to time, we have a "moment of silence/reflection".

When I attend away games, I always notice whether or not either/both of these two events take place as well.

This is something we certainly should not take for granted...little by little we are losing the "right" to acknowledge God and Country at public events. Better stop here, this is a soapbox issue for me.

Agree. America needs to make a stand back on its principal and values on what this great country was bilt upon. And parents need to teach this to there children and not wait upon the school systems to do so.

Always at Russell. We pray (sometimes a football player says prayer #23 Evans) and then the National Anthem. America get back to your roots !!!!!!!!

Excellent post painter!! It sure seems that some have lost all respect for our Creator and the values that made our great Country what it is.

I think it all begins at home.

These are the same idiots that support guys like Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton, Sharpton just to name a few.

It is their right but it sure burns a fire in my gut and brings out a side in me that I really don't like.

Trinity has 6 or 7 of the Trinity Singers on the field singing "America the Beautiful" and "God Bless America" while honored guests take the flag onto the field and give it to members of the Senior Class Flag Corps, who then take it over to the flagpole at the entrance gate and prepare it for raising. When it's ready, the Singers sing the National Anthem while the flag is slowly raised up the flagpole. The flag reaches the top of the pole just as the Singers finish the anthem. Beautiful and chilling to see. Then it's time for the coin toss and "Go Rocks"!

That is sad but seems to be a trend in today's world. I remember watching my brother & his fellow soldiers get off the plane on his return from Viet Nam, I will never forget this>>>the first thing he did was kiss the earth under his feet. As he walked through the gates there were protestors that were yelling and spitting on them. It was a horrible thing for them to experience.
