Does your school play the National Anthem??

Featured Replies

Thank God it still plays, and we still pray at my alma mater.

That's awesome...

I'm a firm believer in having either the band or a musical compact disc play the national anthem. When people "sing" their own version, they typically last forever and often the words are even wrong. Makes for an embarassing beginning to the game.

Who cares if it lasts a little longer? It's not going to hurt anyone to stand a few seconds longer to show support and respect our country. As for someone singing the national anthem, 9 times out of 10 we're talking about a high school student singing. They're bound to get nervous and make a mistake. They're doing their best, and we should support them.

We play the National Anthem before every Ashland ballgame. From time to time, we have a "moment of silence/reflection".

When I attend away games, I always notice whether or not either/both of these two events take place as well.

This is something we certainly should not take for granted...little by little we are losing the "right" to acknowledge God and Country at public events. Better stop here, this is a soapbox issue for me.

It is always played at Conner and last year's Senior class said the Lord's prayer at their graduation without the Admin's knowledge....they all stood and said it without permission since things like that are "not allowed" in public schools....but they should be and maybe our schools would be much stronger!

St. X - Yes

Yes, Raceland always plays the National Anthem and has Prayer before each game.

:thumb: As they should and everyone should.

While at a UK football game a native New Zealander who goes to UK and lives in this country sat down and waved his New Zealand flag during the national anthem. Needless to say there was almost a brawl.

It should always be played, and hats should ALWAYS be removed. I can't stand to see people wearing hats during the anthem. During the MNF broadcast in New Orleans the PA guy even asked the crowd to take all hats off, they pan the audience and a bunch of fools are still wearing hats. Very disrespectful.

OR TALKING while it's going on!!!! As a retired soldier, this drives me t-totally crazy!!!

People are dying and have died for this country and it's citizen's freedoms, and such little perks as football on friday nights fall into these freedoms (pursuit of happiness and such..... The very least you can do is shut-up, stand up and take off your hat, cover your heart and at least pretend to look at the flag. It's not that hard!!!!

We always have someone sing it at Lynn Camp's home games. If you think someone is singing it crappy, unless they're doing it on purpose, remember, they are trying, it's a hard song and it's the thought that counts!

Just on a side note, I went to my cousin's son funeral Saturday in London, Ky and those knuckleheads from that "church" in Kansas were there protesting with their signs like, "God loves dead soliders." All I could think of my cousin died in Iraq so these idiots could do this!

We play the national anthem before all team games at Northern Kentucky University. When there is a double-header for men's & women's soccer and basketball, it is played twice. We've even beguan to include the taking the hat off part as well.

Bell Co.'s Air Force ROTC color guard bring the colors in at center field. The band plays the national anthem on the field in support of the color guard. Looks like a special "Veteran's Day" at every game! Great tradition, well done.

I served with his dad. My condolences to you and yours. His Dad and Mom are A1 people.

Those people from Kansas are creeps. Don't know how they can do the things they do. And to try to use God for their springboard....

When was that ever not part of it?
