It was, however, in September 2017 it no longer is. Is this the new norm or will the blue Kool-Aid man culture return?

This is a true statement. There needs to be a monumental change in the attitude, intensity, and tempo of this team...coaches all the way down.

I'll agree with the culture comments as well. I played for a not so good high school team, and when we lost, we went directly into the field house - period. I just feel like if you don't hate losing more than you love winning, you shouldn't be playing high school football.

I agree. All the "participation trophy" kids coming up in this day and age will never know what it felt like to play or practice in DV.

I was half joking but yes. The Highlands way was to run to the top of the hill after practice, there was a certain attitude of 150%, Death Valley was a big part of that. Now they practice in a clean country club atmosphere, grit factor.....depleting.

We are not going to change what we do well. Like I said before the offensive scheme and personnel change was limited the first week, second was a hurricane game. I fully expect us to Run, Run and run but don't be surprised that you will see more and more balance this week and as the weeks go by. Once you hit the reset button it takes a sec to get traction. We got our feet under us. Expectations are that nobody in NKY beats us the rest of the year.

And the new weight room has to be a factor. Back in the day, it was in the depths of darkness with some old, rusty weights. I blame it all on the new fieldhouse. They need to go back to their inner Rocky and start working out with hunks of frozen beef.

Wow! One loss to an opponent HHS wasn't going to beat anyway and everyone jumps ship. Perhaps the once-proud fanbase could use some toughening up as well and quit looking for scapegoats (aka. DV, fieldhouse, etc.)

The kids on that field still work-out year-round, still have a desire to win, and still live with their successes and failures. Perhaps we can hear from those that still support those qualities of a winning program.

I don't think it's lack of effort from the players at all. I see them in their workouts and they bust their tails!
