Class 4A

If there was ever any doubt, Johnson Central and Wayne County served notice as to why most people list them as the two favorites in Class 4A, with ultra impressive wins over Capital, WV and Pulaski County respectively. The story line of the week will be how 4A squares up against 5A and 6A as seven of the ten teams will step up in class. The headliners of the week will be Franklin-Simpson drawing a 5A South Warren team that has been a bit of a pleasant surprise as well as Collins getting their stiffest test thus far against a 6A Ballard team hungry for their first win.

4. Franklin-Simpson at 5A #8 South Warren

5. Mercer County at 5A Anderson County

6. Shelby County vs. 6A Meade County

7. Rockcastle County vs. 5A Whitley County

8. Ashland vs. George Washington (WV)

9. Greenup County at 3A Fleming County

10. Bourbon County at 5A Madison Southern

Greenup County is a new, fresh faced addition here. This is a team that could steadily climb these rankings with the schedule they've got coming up. Fleming County, Raceland, and Lawrence County are all good teams that Greenup can handle. Keep an eye on the Musketeers.

2-4 have very tough games.

I will go with your top 6 but I am not buying into Franklin Simpson yet.

Louisville Western is scary folks. Took Central to the wire and has tons kids back.

Probably the same ones that cast a vote for Sheldon Clark to be in the Top 10 in 3A.

 

AP as a whole carries no weight whatsoever as most agree.

I think Boyle County will decide who my #2 will be in the next couple of weeks.

If it is OK for the AP to have South Warren in two polls at one time, might as well let Boyle do it if they beat Wayne and Collins.

Right now Warren East is the wild card in 4A Region 1.
