Rockcastle County 61 Clay County 13

Featured Replies

Final.

It was a historical evening for Rockcastle County Head Coach Tom Larkey picks up his 200th career win while at The Rock.

Go to go Coach Larkey and the rest of the Rocket coaching stafff over the years.

What a great showing for the Rockets tonight!!!!

Dusty Miller was an incredible back in the first half.

Hopefully 3wishes can get us the official stats later tonight.

Wow, 61-13 I knew Clay's schedule and/or stats were suspect but I just picked along the lines of 42-21 Rock must have really brought it to them tonight.

Rockcastle County was added by the turnover margin as well....I think it was a +5 for the Rockets as they had 1 and Clay had 6.

Two of the turnovers went for touchdowns on the play...and interception return and a fumble return...and I think 2-3 others eventually led to Rocket points.

Congrats to Coach Larkey!

Rockcastle completely controled the line of scrimmage. Clay gets to 20-13 in the 2nd qtr but started turning the ball over. The rockets offensive line is awesome. Clay needs to lick their wounds and get ready for Perry. I don't know any stats but Clay moved the ball pretty good, right up till they turned it over & over & over.

Not a surprise really. Clay's had a great season so far, but they don't play the calibur opponents that Rock does. Bell and Rock are still firmly at the top of the district.

I was there and it was a great game!!!!! Hat's off to them and to Coach Larkey and to Coach Saylor for a job well done. I will be anxious to see more of the stat's of the ROCK both defense and offense.

I missed this one. Congrats to the Rock!

Rock came out and made a statement tonight, the field was the worst that many have seen and Rock thrived in it. JV started playing in the middle of the 3rd quarter. Clay never took any starters out, I was wondering why they didn't take their starters out because of injuries but they stayed out there.

Stats were dominated by the Rock who came out like they were possessed. The Rock was even penalized 43 yards tonight and Clay County for 15 yards.

Total Yards

Rock 472

Clay 226

Total Passing Yards

Rock 1-7 33 yards

Clay 23-40 209 yards

Total Rushing Yards

Rock 439

Clay 17

Individuals for Rock

Dusty Miller tied the all time rushing yards per game with 277 yards. He tied Marty Reagan.

Dusty had 22 rushes for 277 yards.

Shawn Childress rushed 2 times for 50 yards.

Cody Mize 7 rushes for 59 yards.

Shawn McHone 4 rushes for 40 yards.

The Rock was 100% for extra points tonight.

Individuals for Clay County:

Zach Lewis passed 40 times and had 23 completions for 209 yards with 2 interceptions. He had 140 at halftime, needless to say his average yards per game went way down from the 414 he was averaging. Still he is he a good young player with a bright future but I just cannot figure leaving him in along with the rest of starters with the game completely out of reach and risk an injury when the freshmen and JV were playing against them.

Braxton Bragg had 8 rushes for 36 yards and 3 receptions for 30 yards out of the backfield.

The cream always rises to the top.

Clay has had a good year so far, but the Rock is the real deal. The Tigers will be okay. Hang in there and get ready for the next game, and set your goals to be on the same level with Rockcastle in the near future.

Worse field conditions I have ever seen in many years. I wonder what really caused it. I know there has been some rain, but this was really bad. Congratulations to the ROCK on a very big win. The running game was awsome behind the offensive line. Credit also goes to the blocking backs for their blocks on LB's and DE's. It was Miller time for the ROCK. Way to go Dusty Miller for your 277 yds rushing that tied Marty Reagan for a single game. Shawn Childress had an outstanding game on both sides of the ball. Didn't know he was a RB. Must a been a new wrinkle in the offense. Get the ball in the hands of the athletes.

Please don't try to suggest that field conditions are responsible for a 48-point swing.

Jim, they actually made a comment on how poor the field conditions were on Sports Overtime. It didn't seem to affect Miller on his cuts on a couple of long runs though.

I guess the Clay Coach was wrong on his radio show. Maybe they should have let the middle school play the night before to make the field more in their favor.
