Will the worm turn this year?

Featured Replies

Saint Xavier swept Trinity in non varsity contests last year. Last week, the jv Rocks lost to Carmel 28-0. The contacts I have at X tell me their frosh this year are loaded with talent

And size. A bright spot is how the baby Rocks handled their game last week in a run away. If X sweeps both non varsity games this year, the worm may have indeed turned in Saint X's favor.

Would love to hear from the faithful how they feel on this observation.

I think Beatty makes a difference on the varsity level.

Wishful thinking, IMO.

I believe the gap is closing but you never know what transfers Trinity will get so that is the wildcard you can't predict.

Welcome to BluegrassPreps, Sinbad!

And nice work slipping a Shakespeare reference into a thread title...that's a BGP rarity, to say the least! :ylsuper:

No. That being stated, Saint Xavier obviously thinks so are they would not have agreed to resume playing 2 freshman and two junior varsity games this year. Last season's freshman game was an overtime thriller(St Xavier 14-7). The JV game ended 21-14 in favor of the Tigers.

The fun starts this Saturday at Marshall Stadium at 11AM with a JV game. It continues Monday evening at 5:30 in St. Matthews with a freshman tilt. I do not want to get ahead of ourselves with Warren Central, Moeller, and Male on the horizon. There's plenty of time for this in September.

X doesn't take transfers?

I'm sure they would but if they are good they will most likely go to Trinity. Just like Herron and Moore from New Albany. Not knocking them, it's just reality. I'm sure X would have liked to have those 2 kids.

Nope. Greenies beat the Baby Bengals 37-7

I remember when Brian Brohm graduated many predicted that Trinity's successes over St. X were short lived. I remember after the infamous hat tip game in Bowling Green many declared that the pendulum had clearly swung to St. X. Now we have worms turning. Will momentum return to C in this series? At some point it will, but I don't think it has yet.

Oh you

As much as I like calling the X-men worms, but given the stripes, wouldn't it be better to ask if the caterpillar has turned? That said, the answer is no. The freshmen from X looked huge last night but the were unable to use their size advantage. Trinity was much faster. Those thin, athletic linemen for Trinity will get bigger and stronger and they will still be athletic.

Not sure how Louisville works but I have a friend who lives in NKY and his son goes to Cincinnati St. X. His son is NOT ALLOWED by the school, not sure if that is an Ohio rule or school rule, to play ANY sports. Do those Indiana kids now live in KY. or does Kentucky/Louisville schools not have the same types of rules. I am just asking. Not trying to stir any pots.

There are schools in Kentucky, both public and private, who have student athletes who live out of state. There is no KHSAA prohibition against it.

Gotcha. Just didn't know.
