Lamar's last three games were not Heisman worthy, I get it, but after 8 games of tape and just throwing the house at him, he had no chance. Their defense was gonna give points, you just could not under any circumstance let him get away. If it took 11, it took 11. That's what happened, in essence.

He could win it again, as we saw in 2016 it only takes half a season.

In about 5 of those games he won it. It's all about compiling stats in college. He won it during the FSU, Syracuse stretch.

 

Everybody knows the Heisman was decided in late Sept, early October.

If he played for OSU he'd have a competent HC, an offensive line to protect him, a 5 star loaded defense that could give the ball back to him, and skill players who have athleticism on par with Lamar. So yeah if he was wearing Scarlet and Grey there may be some more drooling. But he also might be playing wide out at OSU too so who knows. You can't deny how bad Lamar looked at the end of last year. It wasn't all on him because he has a JV O line protecting him, but he wasn't the same guy. If you're being honest with your self you are atleast slightly worried about which Lamar you will see this year.

Manziel, Tebow, Bradford, Leinart, and Winston are all recent players that were back to school following a Heisman campaign. The reality is, it is incredibly tough to replicate the success (and you pretty much have to do that) one has during the winning season. There is a reason it has only happened once.

 

Matt Leinhart actually had better stats almost across the board the year after he won the Heisman. Yet he ended up 3rd the next year.

 

It's just so hard because are always looking for something new. So even if you do as good or even better people already seen you do it. While if someone new all of a sudden goes off, they get more attention.

 

It's kind of like LeBron and the MVP in the NBA. He probably should have won it more than he has, but he is so great it doesn't stand out anymore it's just expected.

JT even commented on it during spring ball about how hard it's been receiving criticism from fans. If you're curious go back and look at the threads following the Clemson game. I was ready to cut ties with JT. I'm excited that maybe a new QB coach and OC can get him back to '2014 JT. But I'm definitely not drooling over the guy. IMO there are dudes behind him that are better.

JT even commented on it during spring ball about how hard it's been receiving criticism from fans. If you're curious go back and look at the threads following the Clemson game. I was ready to cut ties with JT. I'm excited that maybe a new QB coach and OC can get him back to '2014 JT. But I'm definitely not drooling over the guy. Or we can go back to two years ago when you all talked about how much of a better qb he was. Than the guy who won you all a title. The guy hasn't won you all anything but you all talked him up as the best qb in football. I haven't paid much attention to you OSU fans since bowl season ended. So maybe you all have dropped your love affair with him. I just know I was in many debates with you OSU fans about him and man did you all love him.

This shows how much dislike you have for him. He won the Heisman Trophy in his first full year of starting. Why on earth would I be worried about what Lamar we'll see this year? He will be the best player in America, again, regardless of what awards he does or doesn't win. He will be improved in some areas he needed work in (already been verified during camp) and an overall better player.

 

I get that it bothers you, but he'll be gone after this year and you can pick some other non-OSU star to hate on.

You can deny all you want but JT was a damn good QB in 2014 and really hasn't been the same guy since. We saw flashes of that guy in 2015 against Michigan and ND to end the year, but even then it wasn't the same. I just don't understand why you are trying to argue a point that clearly is invalid. JT had a fairly decent first half of the year last year and he had some good huge games coming up where if he performed really well in those games he might backdoor his way into a Heisman. I supported my guy as the one who could backdoor the trophy, but it could have been any number of different guys. Nobody stepped up to take the trophy away from Lamar even though it appeared he was trying to give it away. But back to the main point, JT is the QB for my team so obviously I'm going to support him on the field and I hope Ryan Day and Kevin Wilson get it figured out this year. But I and a lot of OSU fans are not nearly as high on JT as we have been in years past. We are very optimistic for his potential with new coordinators.

He was horrible against Houston, UK, and LSU. You're worried. The thought at the very least is in the back of your head about what if he doesn't ever recover.
