August 11, 20179 yr You're wasting your time. He's said multiple times that Lamar was "horrible" in a three game stretch where we attributed to almost 900 yards and five touchdowns. We obviously have different ideas of what horrible means. :stop: I didn't know you played???? Honestly Lamar will probably have a Heisman worthy season but due to what others have mentioned for example the newbies stepping into the spotlight he will not win.

August 11, 20179 yr Author The guy is listed at 20-1 but imo the best football player in the country going into the season is Saquon Barkley ....Penn State RB I agree. 20-1 is an absolute steal. I thought he was one of the best backs in college football 2 years ago when he came into Columbus and ran all over our Buckeyes in the first half. Saquon Barkley is a man and IMO the best player in college football heading into the season.

I'm saying Ohio State wouldn't have given him the chance to develop his talent at QB and would have wanted to see his athleticism on the field earlier at WR. When he got to OSU he wouldn't have been ahead of reigning Big 10 player of the year JT Barrett or national championship winning QB Cardale Jones. Nor was he as polished of a passer as Joe Burrow was when he arrived in the same class as Lamar. Ohio State simply wouldn't have had the opening for Lamar to play right away or even as a sophomore and his athleticism is too great to have him sit on the sidelines. He would have played WR. I disagree, but I can at least entertain the argument that Lamar will not be a QB at the next level. I would even buy that it might take longer to win a starting position at a different school. Still, I promise you there is not a coach in the country that will take a Hesiman-calibar QB and make him switch positions. Yes some guys play a different position than the one they were recruited for, but I have to believe coaches are continually evaluating. QB is obviously the most important position on the field and no coach in the world is ever going to make his QB position weaker to make his WR corp better.
August 11, 20179 yr If he played for OSU he'd have a competent HC, an offensive line to protect him, a 5 star loaded defense that could give the ball back to him, and skill players who have athleticism on par with Lamar. So yeah if he was wearing Scarlet and Grey there may be some more drooling. But he also might be playing wide out at OSU too so who knows. You can't deny how bad Lamar looked at the end of last year. It wasn't all on him because he has a JV O line protecting him, but he wasn't the same guy. If you're being honest with your self you are atleast slightly worried about which Lamar you will see this year. I agree with everything here and was thinking basically the same and was ready to post, then read yours and decided to highlight / underline the points that I especially agree with ...........:thumb:

I'll take Bradford over Lamar too. :thumb: Watson at Clemson was clearly the best player in CFB last season and imo that he was robbed. L . Jackson was very good and great athlete. D. Watson delivered in the clutch. Also, one thing that Jackson had no fault, control in was that .D. Watson was far better coached.. Actually, imo a case could've been made for him in 2015 as well but they lost the NC.

I think Saban, Meyer, Dabo, Jimbo, etc. would have saw the insane athleticism and had him play his freshmen year, just not at QB. They all have more conventional, less raw QB's in position to play QB. Lamar was a gamble UofL was able to to take. A guy like that is always a gamble playing QB because he not a highly proficient passer, he's just a big time playmaker, he just makes football plays. A lot of times guys like that don't pan out because you aren't able to reel them back in from that mentality. Lamar obviously paid out big time for UofL. But UofL could afford to take the gamble, but schools like Bama, OSU, FSU, etc. can't afford to take that gamble. There's only been one guy who plays the way Lamar plays who has been successful and that is Michael Vick who Jackson obviously gets a lot of comparisons too. The point is Lamar was a gamble that UofL could afford to take, OSU and Bama don't have to gamble on guys.

I agree he was the best player but he threw 17 interceptions. He didn't deserve to win the Heisman.
