In general with most things I tend to spend more when I actually buy something. Tons and tons of things I've found I get what I pay for. But I will online shop a lot for a deal.

I always go cheap on sunglasses. I've seen too many friends and people in general lose designer brand shades to water and tires and unruly fans. I'll occasionally splurge on a $10 pair when I'm feeling particularly trendy.

This is me. $10 is my limit and I can find some good ones for that.

Vehicles & phones/phone plans.

Sports, Played softball for about 15 years and traveled to many different locations and states and spent way too much. Now, I travel with the Royals every they go and alot with the Lady Royals. I also buy an older Baseball Cards every one in a while.

 

Men's slowpitch softball today is a JOKE! 3 quarters of these hacks couldn't touch us in our hey-day. They play with loaded bats and balls that are as hard as a wedding penis (hope I can say that). And the so called crowds that watch....:no: non-existent. I can recall Softball City and Rumpke being packed beyond capacity to watch league games, let alone, tournament games.

I totally agree with you. In our day, you had to play Defense and get three hits to drive someone in. Went to my sons game a couple years back, which was the first game in several years, and three of the first three hitters hit Home Runs. I said this is not softball. I have not watched another game. I am finishing a 1968 set and starting on a 1967 set.

- Beer, Wine, Liquor ( we'll go top shelf on special occasions )

 

- Clothes ( go on line and use goodwill to purchase nice clothes cheaper )

 

- Cars ( we always allow others to depreciate our vehicles for us )

To be honest, nothing. I guess if I really have to say somethingI would say Golf tees. I spend a crap ton of money on golf stuff from clubs, shoes, clothes, and balls that I hate having to buy tees. I can't remember the last time I did. I always just look around on the tee box and pick up leftovers. Or if I go on a golf trip to a nice course where they have buckets of tees on the range I load my bag up.

Clothes, to be sure. I have a personal "uniform" of mix and match pieces. I have recently spent a good deal on a new wardrobe because I've decided to dress for my middle aged fat body, rather than the thinner body I used to be. :lol:. But now what I have the foundation pieces, I'll go cheap on the rest of the stuff I add.

 

House, some would say. While I could afford and was approved to buy a house 2.5 times the price I paid for the house I bought, I couldn't justify paying that much more for a house only slightly larger, less renovated, but located in my desired area. I was able to save between $100-$150K, and get a fully, beautifully renovated house, by buying 3 blocks outside of my desired area. People think I'm lying when I tell them that. But it's 100% true.

 

Random:. Haircuts and color. I go to Great Clips and get my hair cut for $13. I color my own hair. And since Walgreens had a bunch of "last chance" hair color sale the other day, I bought 8 boxes of my color at $2.44 each. So, it appears I committed to being brunette for a while longer. :lol2:
