August 2, 20179 yr His family. Who provided the info that he did have a gun? I dont know. I never said he definitely had one. Didnt the family admit a gun was on the couch? Did they just say he had a gun and get lucky that one was near him afterwards?
August 2, 20179 yr We know they knocked on the wrong door. We dont really know what exactly happened after that. I do know that police knock on the wrong door a lot... they've knocked on my door looking for a different address. I didn't get shot... We know they made a mistake and as a result of that mistake a guy is dead that shouldn't be. I want to make it clear, I'm not advocating for them to be charged with murder or anything of that nature, because I think it was a horrible accident that resulted from the totality of the circumstances (knocked on the wrong door, late at night, owner owned/had a gun, the dog got loose, lack of lighting, dog shot, etc.). I do think those involved need to be held accountable and possibly no longer work in law enforcement though.

If it's late at night and I am watching TV or browsing BGP, I might have it on the couch beside me. If I get up to go to the fridge or bathroom, it may stay on the couch.
August 2, 20179 yr Is it possible that after getting shot he fell or stumbled back and dropped it on the couch as he went down? Point is there are so many unknown variables at this point anyone saying 100% they screwed up or 100% they were in the right is just guessing.

Not directed at you, but I can't count how many times I've knocked on the "wrong" door looking for someone. Criminals don't typically update their address with the DOT so a lot of times you're looking at bad addresses.
