The Walking Dead (Season 8)

I thought tonight was fine. But then again, I don't expect the best show in network television history every single week either.

It's never been anywhere close to that.

I don't expect that either. No one does...

Flat out silly tonight. Too many bad examples of writing and acting to mention.

Ezekiel is the dude in “Emperor’s New Clothes”. He is nothing without his tiger.

Oh, and —-Carol is a backside kicker!

Ezekiel-Centered episode = :poop:

Normally I’d agree, but they broke him down and I think he couldn’t turn into a new and better character. I think the king version is dead. Overall it wasn’t a good week.

Its like that most weeks unfortunately.

I thought last night's episode was hands down the best episode of the season. Granted that bar was set pretty low, but I'll give credit when I think it's due. It was a tight concise story that advanced both the plot and the arc of two characters (3 if you count Jerry) and it had some solid action, drama, and even a couple good one liners (again, Jerry). I understood the motivations of each character both on a personal level and on a strategic level (beyond just kill all the Saviors) for the first time all season. Also, the director of tonight's episode managed to even evoke some emotional response from me to the violence which is something I, and most viewers, have long grown numb to on this show. The jump cuts zoomed in on the freshly mangled bodies juxtaposed seconds after showing them leaving their families in the flashback was jarring. And the brutal angle from which we got to see Jerry hack "1980's pedophile savior" (that was my loving nickname for him) in half was executed perfectly (pun intended). Finally, any episode led by Melissa McBride, who in my opinion is far and away the most skilled actor on the show, is going to get an added boost.

Don't get me wrong this episode wasn't without flaws. There was yet another over the top speech from the king, but I feel that was used properly in this episode and misused in previous ones. Also, the atrocity of CGI they call Shiva was yet again atrocious, but at least she's dead and we don't have to worry about her being used as a deus-ex-machina for the rest of the series. Finally, that car chase was as ridiculous as possible in every aspect right down to the cheesy Flash Gordon-esque music playing, but even that was oddly enjoyable to me. Overall, a huge improvement in a very subpar season.

Good? This season has been the worst by far, and that is saying a lot...

Yeah, good.

Last two weeks haven't been great, but the first two were solid.

I should go back and clarify. The episode was ok, and I love the way Carol handles business. But the long winded ramblings by Ezekiel are old and stuffy. The past three episodes have been nothing but one long episode of them trying to get the runs over 3 hours. The story has not been furthered and there has been some pretty terrible acting.

There is a certain "something" missing in this show right now. But I cannot explain what it is.

Yeah, good.

Agree to disagree. It is barely keeping my attention. My wife, who likes it more than me, has almost quit watching.

I DVR 2 shows. TWD and Shameless. I came home last night and debated which one to watch first. It was TWD. Next week I’ll be checking out Fiona first.

I DVR several. Watch TWD first normally but I'm getting close to giving it up completely. I'm hoping they end it soon, but i have a feeling they're going to milk it as long as possible.

After last season, I had enough and walked away. I haven't watched a minute of this season but read an episode summary on Monday mornings. That's the way to go. Instead of wasting 45 minutes, I only spend 5 minutes getting caught up on things that should've happened but didn't. I like it this way much better.

You're more smarter than me.

Well, just when I think they can't get any worse than the last week's episode, last night happened.

Luckily I had the football game on in the background to keep my attention.

You knew Shiva was going to save the day at some point, but man that was lame.
