Wondering if the act of deflection is a product of a habitual involuntary tic, a learned behavioral flaw, or from an actual clear-conscious misguided perception that it makes for an intelligent logical counterpoint within a discussion or debate?

 

I see it used frequently on programs such as "Meet The Press" by political figures who I'd assume would be above giving such grade school level pedestrian type responses within an arena that calls for a mature sound-minded intellect, while blatantly and shamelessly exposing themselves as someone incapable of this much needed level-headed attribute.

 

When sound and pedestrian minds meet, or two or more of the latter, it's no small wonder how it can be disruptive to the process of reaching rational intelligent conclusions.

 

In my youth I had the impression that rational intellect was the standard and expected characteristic exuded by those who were qualified to hold leadership positions, yet I now wonder was it my naivete' then to not recognize when figures abandoned rationality, or is it that it's now becoming more of a disturbing trend, or am I just now finally able to more clearly detect obstinate obtusity as an adult, and that this annoying trait has been there all along, or perhaps a little bit of all of the above?

Is it deflection when one makes a statement on what they think of the OP topic and then asks a question of another's behavior and if they agree with that?

Trying to tie Trump to anything but the wrestling Gif is a joke and is a further reason no one trusts CNN. How is finding out the source of meme newsworthy in todays world. With all that is going on in the world CNN researches this topic and then blackmails the user into an apology. It is a joke and CNN has gone off the rails. Poor CNN had it's feelings hurt.

I honestly don't care about CNN. If CNN is guilty of blackmail or extortion then hold them accountable. So.... are we ignoring that the president might have an appreciation for the internet magic of the creator of the wrestling video? I mean the creator of the gif doesn't seem to like CNN much and the POTUS doesn't seem to like CNN much. Maybe the POTUS can use some of his other anti CNN gifs.
