That same team also tried to skip their last batter intentionally to get back to the top of their lineup when the game was on the line. I guess as long as there are wins and losses...there will be people skirting rules to get the W. I meant this thread just to get some opinions from other youth sports coaches and fans. I guess I was curious if these things happen all over the place. I'm a big advocate of youth sports as a I have essentially dedicated 10 years to coaching soccer, baseball and basketball. It bothers me when things are done that are dangerous or cheap to kids. Sounds like the issue is your league sucks. Yeah the coach has issues if he is trying to cheat but he is only able to cheat because the league isn't doing their job.
June 22, 20179 yr Yeah, the T Ball rules have changed throughout the season. Baby J is an umpire for T Ball and I have heard about the craziness going on over there too. They've gone back to calling kids out, they don't have to get 3 outs though because everyone still bats and they don't keep score either. 95% of the kids playing T Ball can't even hit the ball past the pitcher anyways. I hate T Ball. It disgusts me. :lol2: I refused to let my kids play T Ball. They learn nothing and it's painful to watch. 5/6 year old is bad enough.

I would agree with this. If the coaching is violating the rules, they are being reported, and nothing is being done then the greater issue is with the league.

June 22, 20179 yr We apparently almost had a fight at a t I've coached youth baseball, football, and basketball and without a doubt, YOUTH BASEBALL is the most dysfunctional and "too much parental involvement" of them all. From pitch counts to everyone needing to play, it was just ridiculous with a lot of cheating to win.

How the tournament worked is you played 8 exhibition games, were seeded based upon record and then had a single elimination tournament. Well the teams that made the final 4 all flew in pitchers that weren't there all week just to pitch in the tournament so they had fresh arms. This has always rubbed me the wrong way.

I think they should at least be in the dugout in uniform. My son's team experienced the same thing at Cooperstown. There are kids that are basically hired guns that fly in a pitch for several different teams in different weeks at this tourney at various times throughout the summer. Some of those teams in Cooperstown are just ridiculous. It's a great tourney and a ton of fun for the kids, but the average team doesn't have a shot at winning.
