Is PRP a typo at #9 in AAAA? 81.4 is ahead of the 2 teams in front of them.

I wonder why Franklin Co. is ranked ahead of Lexcath? You would think that LexCath would be ranked higher since they beat Franklin Co. and have the same record and have played a harder schedule.

They are ahead of Christian Co. in the overall ranking, so I assume so.

I was thinking the same thing. They should flip flop the two...

You have to look at the Cantrell ratings with a few things in mind:

A) Margin of victory seems to be the most important factor

B) The rankings tend to get more accurate as the season wears on

C) Head-to-head seems to have little bearing on anything

At a glance, Franklin Co. is 4-1, with its wins coming by an average of 33 points a game. Its only loss was by 3 points to LexCath.

LexCath, on the other hand, is 3-1, with its wins coming by an average of about 11 points a game, and its one loss coming by 47 points.

Keeping that in mind, it's easy to see why Franklin is ranked higher, despite losing to LexCath.

Or, you could just look at them as one of many rankings systems, most of which are wrong. From my observations, the BGP rankings tend to be the most accurate. The Massey rankings get better as the season wears on, and are pretty close toward the end of the season.

There is never a perfect ranking. It is nothing more than eye candy, but it does make for good conversation...

I was thinking the same thing. They should flip flop the two...

LCA beat RACELAND head-to-head and Raceland is still ranked higher...

It has to do with QUALITY OF WINS & LOSSES - so the teams you beat and that beat you and their records have as much impact - I guess...

But these polls are just someone's opinion and are certainly meaningless when it comes to Friday nights and the playoffs - it gives all of us things to discuss!

Eagle Eye answer this. Bath County defeated Fairview last week and didnt move in the rankings. Thet lose to LCA and move up a spot. You would think it would have been the other way around.

Bath County in single A at #34 ?? Imo this is way off and they should be much higher At least higher than Fairview in this one. I can tell that this ratings must be going a lot on past history in the playoffs. That and strength of schedule may be the only factors that I can see that is evident. JMO (Bath fans, you definately should be higher!)

Most of these rankings make no sense. As EagleEye stated earlier, it does give us something to talk about. It also makes good locker room material.

Rambler - I agree - the poll creators dont often pay too much attention to much past the top 5 of each class and they definitely give more credibility to previous years performance(s) than is truly deserved or warranted.

Beechwood will always get more credit because of their awesome history - even with coaching changes - tradition speaks volumes to the pollsters - I guess.

Johnson Central is looking good in that 4 spot in class 3A. And even better sitting in that 15th overall spot.

I guess if you are a Lincoln CO. fan you need to find the dark horse thread. The patriots are going through the season like Braxton Miller goes through the line, low and hard. Maybe.... if the pats get a couple of wins in the playoffs they will get a little RESPECT! GO PATS!:dancingpa

It's funny to me that the poster that started this thread is the same poster that called the Cantralls "a complete joke" last season. I suppose his view of them has to do with where his team is ranked.
