June 14, 20179 yr How would Jordan's Bull teams match up with this Golden State team? It's hard to compare eras because of rule changes and overall strategy but those Bulls team were on a different planet defensively from the Cavs team they just faced.

June 14, 20179 yr I do not like saying teams in previous generations had "super teams" like they do today. That is the way apologists have come to defend LeBron since 2011. There was also a lot less teams, so talent was more likely to hoard up on particular teams.

The jumping around of the superstars makes the optics different but any team that has 2-5 Hall of Famers on it is a superteam IMO.

Byron Scott was a trade for Norm Nixon, Kuochek was big on second title team and was a FA get from Bullets. Whereas Magic, Worthy, AC, Rambis were draft picks others were trades or FA pickups. So what is the difference today?

We get on to players for going places for more money and then some of the same people get mad where they go to win to create a great team. Some of these players can't win either way.
June 15, 20179 yr By the way Lebron never beat a team as good as the Pistons in the Eastern Conference finals. I'd also argue Knicks of the 90s were better than any team in the east during Lebrons run besides maybe those few years of the Celtics.
June 15, 20179 yr Trades is a big difference. A lot of FA agent pickups were role players. To add I am fine with Durant going to the warriors. We get on to players for going places for more money and then some of the same people get mad where they go to win to create a great team. Some of these players can't win either way. We also get on the players when they don't win rings to prove their greatness when the truth remains that you will be hard pressed to find a championship team that doesn't have a least one pivotal free agent on that team. Players being the controlling agents does make it somewhat different and gives us different optics but whether it is the players taking their own interests to where they want to be or the front office assembling what they think is the best team the goal is still the same for all parties. Win that title.
