RB's in the Mountains

Featured Replies

In my view, Becham Herald from Breathitt is one of the best in the mountains. Also that back from Leslie. Channing Fugate is only a freshman for the bobcats but watch out for him.

I wold agree with this. Beckham Herald is maybe the most underrated player in the mountains. He does everything for the bobcats. He is the heart and soul of the team. The Fugate kid is also going to be something to see in the future.

I know nothing about Beckham Herald but I have to say that is a great football name. He sounds like a newspaper. I can see the headlines "The Beckham Herald gives you the truth" great, great name and evidently a really good player too. :thumb:

Just passing through. Catch me if you can.

Mercer County RB Brandon Ford

Note to Mercer: You are not in the mountains........

I saw in a thread where cole of Somerset was agreed to be one of the better WR's in the mountains. If those are mountains in Somerset then we have plenty here.

The "mountains" are generally considered the I75 area of Whitley, Laurel, Rockcastle and areas to the east but does include Pulaski Co./Somerset/Southwestern and maybe McCreary?

Take a drive from Somerset to London on 80 or Burnside to Corbin on 90. The biggest hill in Mercer County is on their baseball field, that is a pretty big hill but I wouldn't consider it a mountain.:p

Russell isn't really in the mountains either. I would consider the top rb's to be Dustin May and Shawn Grimm.

I don't know about everyone else, but I am about tired of the Mercer arrogance.

If Russell is in the Mountains then Kasey Clark gets it hands down IMO. I only saw him last year at louisville and he could have only gotten better.

Joe Roskopf of Lynn Camp high school, should be listed near the top. Close 1400 yards on the season so far.

I am curious as to his yards per carry, he seems to carry the ball probably twice as much as anyone else. But regardless.....a 400+ yd game is pretty darn impressive, even if you do carry 40 times (10 yds per carry)..

I know B. Herald from Breathitt pretty well and i haven't seen a more determined and hard nosed player. He told me that the seniors had come together(all 4 of them) and made their mind up that they wasn't going to listen to the newspapers, that they was going to take this team as far as they can. The beauty of Beckham Herald is, he doesn't care where he is ranked, or wether or not his name is in the paper. He just wants to win, and he does everything he can to bring home a win on fridays. So if you ask me how did Breathitt turn it around so quickly look no further than those 4 seniors. It's a special thing when u come to a Breathitt football game, see #23 in the endzone and his 3 offensive linemen(which are the other seniors) congradulating him on his score. He has been known to give the line high fives when he gets a big play. I love seeing that on friday nights. It's a special season in Breathitt, regardless if they run the table or not.

If Harmon from Pikeville isn't the top RB in EKY this year(and he is one of the best this year imo) he will be the next 2 years...

Roskopf had another big night against Harlan in the loss to back up the 400+ against Pineville, so he's doing it against good defenses, also. Has to be ranked in the top talents in the Mountains, if not in the whole State. He was ranked #1 last week in total rushing yards in the state.

Joe for the season has 172 carries for 1350 yards, which is about 7.8 yards per carry.

That's not a great YPC for a KY high school back, but it is better than average.

It sounds to me like Coach Mitchell is riding his horse (Roskopf) as much as he can.

Good luck to the kid......I hope he doesn't wear down before the playoffs.

He may be the best in the mountains this year, IMO.

Anybody know his 40 time?

Not that it matters, but I have been curious about it since seeing him play.
