If there wasn't an investigation then why did Comey sit on it? And if there wasn't an investigation and he sat on it I think that looks real bad for Comey and I would tend to believe he is guilty of breaking some law at that point.

 

Tell us how that works. If the Boone Co. Judge Exec. tells you to stop investigating his deputy judge exec, what should you do? Do you have an obligation to report that right away, before your related investigation is complete? Should you continue your investigation, note if the Judge Exec does anything else, and then include his actions in your final report?

Well many have argued that Comey was inept at his job. Maybe this would prove it if he's opened himself to obstruction charges as well.

This is what I was thinking, back when Trump won everyone seemed more afraid of Pence taking over (at least the LBGTQIXYXCWQ???? or however that list is compiled now). Now it seems they have forgotten that and just want Trump out.

The media has created a very dangerous situation. They cry wolf every day. In the eventuality the President does do something bad more than half of America is not going to believe them.

I don't really want to go there. Besides the Judge Executive and his subordinates were not in my chain of command. My chain went straight up the police department through several ranks and then to the Mayor. Fun fact here because I don't want to come across too serious, I was on a Committee once with a former Deputy Judge Executive and it was an extremely positive experience.

 

I will half answer your question, the Florence Police Department never ever stood in my way on any Criminal Investigation and for that I am thankful.

 

To speculate about your question, it would be the Sheriff's Department investigating the Deputy Judge Executive in most cases and if the Judge Executive approached any individual Sheriff Detective telling him or her to stop investigating any of his employees the proper course of action would be to immediately report it to your supervisor. Then it would ultimately be up to the Sheriff to decide what to do and if I was working for the Sheriff I would do the following, I would do exactly what the Sheriff told me to do and if I felt what I was told to do was highly improper I would look for other employment.

 

Coming full circle, if President Trump did anything improper in his meetings with James Comey, Comey should have opened an investigation. If Comey didn't open an investigation, then I think the leaks now are definitely political in nature and further erode Comey's credibility.

 

And remember everyone, if James Comey was truly the straight arrow that he wants us to believe, there wouldn't be any leaks.

I always listen to Gergen. I believe he tells it straight.

I'm hesitant about that. Trump's reckless disregard for anything scares me but Pence's backward ideology scares the hell out of me. Put me down for hoping Mr. Trump survives and Mr Pence remains effectively powerless.

Apparently, Comey was a note taker. FBI has had memos since February from Comey detailing conversations with POTUS. Obviously, Comey was not comfortable with where this was headed and kept people in the loop via a paper trail.
