It was a weird question. Do I believe in anarchy? Because I think if she had spoken off campus she could have had the desired effect she and her inviters were searching for?

 

The inmates have ran the asylum at Berkeley for how long now? Ann Coulter isn't changing that. She can run into the asylum all she wants to. It's still going to be an asylum.

 

Very true. Kind of reminds me of the guys who kept going to Rowan County to get Kim Davis to issue a marriage license even though they knew she wouldn't do it. Ann Coulter and the people who invited her knew exactly what was going to happen and they got their desired effect to prove a point. If they didn't expect this situation to play out exactly like it did then they are incredibly naive and maybe not as smart as I am giving them credit for being. I have a hard time believing that they were surprised by the actions of those running the asylum at Berkeley.

Which is why I asked why did she have to make it a point to speak at Berkeley? She couldn't have spoken downtown at an off campus venue? And again, I think she should have been allowed to speak. I'm just not the least bit surprised at what happened based on what we know about the mindset and temperament at Berkeley.

 

My guess is that she was invited. If people didn't like it, they shouldn't go, or peacefully protest. Otherwise, they should be arrested. To cancel her visit is shameful. To not be able to keep a speaker on a college campus safe is ridiculous.

 

When I went to NKU, I was so busy going to school, working, and worrying about getting my mom's car back to her, that I had no time to protest anything.

 

It drives me nuts, that these so called liberal colleges, that are supposedly so opened minded and inclusive, would threaten the saftey of someone with a different opinion.

 

It is the most ironic, ignorant, asinine thing ever. I don't know what tuition is at Berkeley, but I learned more about real life as a middle class kid at NKU and I bet paid a whole lot less.

Who, exactly, is denying Ann Coulter her freedom of speech? She's got a pretty big pulpit to speak from as it is. I've never heard of this other speaker. Banning Ann Coulter doesn't really do much to silence her when you consider the scale at play. If anything it helps her, because it gives her a week or so of material for her show, which reaches millions.

 

I'd consider it an infringement if we were talking about banning some no-name conservative speaker who nobody's ever heard of.

I think the analogy is perfect but I'll try this one. No liberal should go on Hannity's television show and expect a warm welcome. No conservative should go on Rachel Maddow's show and expect a warm welcome. Donald Trump shouldn't expect a warm welcome or a positive news story from CNN. My main point is that Ann Coulter should not have expected to be accepted to be welcomed with open arms on a campus we all know is a hotbed for aggressive liberal politics.

 

 

College should be a place for a lot of things and there are a laundry list of things that go wrong on college campuses every single day.

Radical leftist extremism is present on college campuses and it's a problem, but it's WAY down on the list compared to the sexual assault and drug abuse problems that are way more present. A radical campus either left or right is way better than a campus that is rampant with sexual assault.

My school invited G. Gordon Liddy to speak back in the eighties. I went. I was nice. I even asked a nice question.
