May 5, 20179 yr How can you try to give someone from the other side your perspective if they don't allow you to speak? You have to go where the people are that don't agree with you. I don't have a problem at all with giving the other side your perspective. Ann Coulter could have spoken anywhere in the Berkeley area and delivered that same perspective and those students at Berkeley could have gone there to hear her. The Berkeley area is big enough that she could have spoken somewhere else in that area. Why did it have to be on that campus which we all know is a hotbed for aggressive liberal politics?
May 5, 20179 yr I think that is a bad analogy. This is a college, not the Klan. It is a place where young adults should be exposed to different ideas. It should be a place where this can be done safely. Spoiled kids who riot because they don't like what someone else have to say, need a lesson in the constitution. I think the analogy is perfect but I'll try this one. No liberal should go on Hannity's television show and expect a warm welcome. No conservative should go on Rachel Maddow's show and expect a warm welcome. Donald Trump shouldn't expect a warm welcome or a positive news story from CNN. My main point is that Ann Coulter should not have expected to be accepted to be welcomed with open arms on a campus we all know is a hotbed for aggressive liberal politics. College should be a place for a lot of things and there are a laundry list of things that go wrong on college campuses every single day.

I think she loves to stir the pot. I have no problem with peaceful protests. She should not be prevented from speaking because of the threats of violence and the inability of security to keep her safe. And yes, lots of things go wrong on campus, but these kids/adults should be expected to behave in a reasonable manner or get arrested. There had to be people who wanted to hear her speak, or else she would not have been invited. What about their rights?

She couldn't have spoken downtown at an off campus venue? And again, I think she should have been allowed to speak. I'm just not the least bit surprised at what happened based on what we know about the mindset and temperament at Berkeley.

Like someone else posted, Bernie spoke at Liberty University, not exactly a bastion of Liberal think. No protests or threats of violence. Let's face it, some of the Liberal mindset is fascist in their thinking.

Let's face it, some of the Liberal mindset is fascist in their thinking. I don't know if fascist is the right word because of what it necessarily carries with it from an historical and definitional perspective, but I get what you're going for and I agree that there are elements of what I've heard referred to as the "regressive left" that have seriously problematic ideas when it comes to free speech and dissent.

Let's face it, some of the Liberal mindset is fascist in their thinking. Bernie was a candidate for president. Bernie's rhetoric is not nearly as inflammatory ans to be frank bigoted as Coulter. TBH, I could see Bernie having some support at a Christian University like Liberty.

TBH, I could see Bernie having some support at a Christian University like Liberty. Bernie is a socialist and I find a lot of what he says just plain stupid, same a Coulter. As to your second point, best laugh I've had this week. :lol2:

Let's face it, some of the Liberal mindset is fascist in their thinking. The kids at Liberty aren't aggressive conservatives. How many incidents have taken place at Berkeley over the decades because of their liberal mindset. I faced who they are and what they are at Berkeley already. That's been my whole point.

May 5, 20179 yr So you're OK with anarchy? Of course not. Why do you keep twisting my point and my words? I've stated multiple times that Ann Coulter should have been allowed to speak. I just don't understand her desire to go to an environment that she knows she isn't wanted at. Especially when she could have chosen a venue off campus and out of the school's jurisdiction. Like I said earlier, a liberal shouldn't expect a warm welcome on Fox News and Donald Trump shouldn't expect to be treated fairly by CNN. You know what you are getting into when you put yourself on those scenarios. If I go to Mercer County High School during lunch time and begin to tell the students and faculty about how they are wrong about everything and that Boyle County will always be a better school than them what do you think will happen to me? Do you think they are going to welcome me in with open arms and listen to my opposing perspective or will they promptly escort me out of the building to keep me from getting whipped?

Not twisting your words, I asked a question. She should go there to speak because she was invited. Why would she not? You can't bow down to threats the way this university has. It is letting the inmates run the asylum. If if you don't stand for what is right, you'll bow for anything.
May 5, 20179 yr Bernie is a socialist and I find a lot of what he says just plain stupid, same a Coulter. As to your second point, best laugh I've had this week. :lol2: What Coulter says isn't stupid, It's intelligently crafted bigotry. I'm intrigued why you scoff at what I said.
