Or you could call them propaganda for middle schoolers. Give them credit. Good job by right wingers promoting their message.

Or they might actually want to make a difference in society.

Or they might actually want to make a difference in society.

They definitely want to make a difference. Both sides want to make a difference. Right wingers have done a much better job selling their story. Left side is walking in the wilderness looking for the tablets. The left needs to find and focus on themes and issues that centrists can feel good about supporting.

Well, I'm white and liberals do look at blacks with pity instead of as a equal. I see it, I hear it. Heck they got caught during the wikileaks dump. Remember the " never do wellers " comment. They think blacks as a whole cant live up to the expectations that a civil society places on itself. I know that's not true, but it's their general consensus. You say the black people have never been given a fair chance in our society, and democrats have been in control more that not. Is that a direct correlation? Question is do you want a hand out because you are incapable and inadequate and can't survive withought special help,( liberal think) or do you want an opportunity to acheive on your merit and hard work, knowing you can in a fair society that rewards you not your color? ( conservative think) Who is the condescender? You say stay woke, it's seems like you think the side you've aligned yourself with does you no wrong. I'm not saying conservatives are perfect by no means. I don't think you have given an open honest look and dismiss what I say because we must be evil. Do you think I purposely try to mislead you and want to cause you harm? I only want you to see the whole truth. Conservative values are better for the black family than liberal values.

I blame the government as a whole for the troubles of the black man in America. You seem focused on assigning blame to one political party when the truth is that they are both at fault in different ways. Why do you feel it is one party's fault and not the other when there is actual proof that both have played a large role in the systematic destruction of the black man? And then you start talking about handouts and the inability to survive without special help and then call it "liberal think" but refuse to tackle the issue of why "liberal think" is to give out handouts and special help. I haven't aligned myself with any side(see my takes on Hillary and Bernie and their supporters) but just because I refuse to align myself with the conservative side doesn't automatically align myself with the liberal side. Both sides make good points but this attitude of the conservative values and the conservative side being better for black people is as condescending as it gets when it comes to their delivery and the way they go about trying to prove they are better than liberals. I don't sit at home and try to have my values correspond with liberal or conservative views. We use our moral compass in my house and I am positive most people do the same thing.

I'll say it until I am blue in the face, until the government gets serious about restoring the inner cities of our large metropolitan cities then no one should expect much change in the black community. Things are better than what they were decades ago but if we truly want to give black people a fair chance to succeed in America then their schools in the inner city need to be exactly like the schools in the suburbs. It has to start there. Until then...the cycle continues.

Do I think you purposely mislead me? Nope. Not at all. I do think that it is impossible for you to understand my perspective on the black man in America. I think you want to win the discussion instead of having a discussion. Instead of asking why I feel a certain way your approach is "your way is wrong and my way is right and here is the proof of why my way is right." And then you post videos of black people who speak about racism with words that you agree with. As soon as I post a video with a white person saying words on racism that I agree with then they are now "condescending liberal thinkers whose values aren't good for my black family."

That's when I say, "well, what's the point?" I watched your first three videos, agreed with 20% of them, disagreed with 80% of them and didn't like the conversation being pigeonholed into 5 minutes of their thoughts. As I said, that is dangerous and it would be dangerous if there was a liberal version of Prager U doing the exact same thing. And it wouldn't surprise me if there was but I'll never look for them. Something beneficial would be Larry Elder and Deray McKesson in the video together having a true conversation instead of putting out propaganda pieces individually. That would be excellent.

I can see a lot of your points. I have my children's future vested in this stuff all being resolved. We can't change the world all at once, but we can change a few people at a time. Your right I haven't walked in your shoes as a black man. Please believe me when I say I've walked next to those shoes my whole life. I know it's not the same but I'm not oblivious either. I don't care so much about winning the discussion as much as finding a better way to solve the problem. You mentioned schools, let's dwell on that. "The national graduation rate for black males was 59 percent, 65 percent for Latinos, and 80 percent for white males for the 2012-13 school year, according to the report. Particularly striking was Detroit where only 20 percent of black males graduated on time in the 2011-12. " If kids won't stay in school does it matter how good or bad the schools are. I believe this starts at home, make your kids go to school and be involved. This is a failure of parenting of culture and community not the government. You mentioned that the government should fix the inner city schools. Serious question is it the schools, the parents or the kid's that need the most improvement? What in your opinion needs fixed?

I think when people stop blaming and stop whining about the past and identify and seek solutions to those issues impacting our schools, or anything else for that matter, we will make progress. The blame game is completely unproductive and only serves to alienate those who could work together to realize progress. When one starts blaming, in fact, they are abdicating any responsibility they may have to contribute to solutions.

Fear, my biggest problem with the notion of "Family Values" being truncated by one side of perspective over another is that I don't think the issue of the family is a conservative or liberal idea.

I think it's a values idea that can't be held by a particular side of the aisle.

There is as much divorce in conservative, white America as there is non-paternal responsibility in Black America or among liberals.

We have now the first US President who has been divorced multiple times. How can that instability be considered a proponent of "Family Values." But it's not like he's the first. Newt Gingrich and so many others who trumpeted this mantra in earlier days have been poor practitioners of the value.

The problem begins within each family system and is not a problem because of "policy" or "political stance." Our problem in addressing it is not by a vote for a politician but by a personal action to be responsible for one's family.

The government can take aid to areas and even offer better tax incentives to two parent families and that might help the ascetics of the problem "areas" but the real solution is within the family unit. And that really can't be fixed by government or labels or political pandering IMO.

I see where you come from on this doomer and likewise agree with the point you're trying to make. However the past informs our present and to disregard as not a part of the discussion is to not get a true picture of "WHY" things are systemic and influential today.

I can see that...."lest we forget our history or we are doomed (no relation) to repeat it".

I recall a conversation I had with an African American pastor once. He was chastised by an older matriarch in the church because he welcome a guest from our church that everyone in the community knew by kissing her on the cheek. Now the guest was one of my members and she was in her late 80's at the time.

Still his dear parishoner chided him, "You can't do that. That's why they hanged my Uncle!" It was obvious a horrific event from her past still clouded not only her concern for her actions but those she loved.

Blaming government is a convient way of ignoring divorce rates, out of wedlock births, low graduation rates and other social indicators that plague black America. Too much blaming and not enough taking responsibility.

Ah, nothing like telling black people racism is their fault.

Ah, nothing like telling black people racism is their fault.

Family deterioration is not a consequence of racism.

Family deterioration is not a consequence of racism.

And it's also not the only reason some minorities struggle in this country.

Ah, nothing like telling black people racism is their fault.

And that the problem stems from the lack of family values...because white people...never mind....
