Show me one that hasn't been touched by, seen, witnessed, or experienced racism. It's hard to aggressively push education, when often, those opportunities aren't available.

And then when those items are pointed out, people are quick to say get over it, and things like you just said (regarding how many generations we are past slavery) as if that just wipes away and proves there's really nothing wrong, and those who experience this stuff regularly, are just being sensitive, or just being silly. You are right...the stats are scary. But the way you are presenting them seems like you are trying to prove that there really isn't a problem. The truth is racism and it's affects are at the root of these stats.

The root cause of these numbers originates from policies and systemic racism that has been prevalent in our government since the end of slavery. You can't throw people into the inner city and give them poor educational opportunities, poor occupational opportunities and flush those inner cities full of drugs and expect them to flourish. The black community is at its best right now and there is still plenty of work to do. I'd say 100 years from now things will be a lot better for blacks in America the same way things today for blacks are better than they were 100 years ago. 100 years ago it was 1917. How much have blacks overcome since then? Things will only get better. Education goes a long way towards combatting out of wedlock babies. An education from Boyle County High School simply isn't the same as an education from an inner city school in Chicago, New York, Houston, Los Angeles......

It's shouldn't be surprising that the race most plagued by this problem is the one that was most affected by slavery, or that Native Americans who suffered from what amounts to genocide (resulting in the destruction of the family unit) has a rate almost as high. Couple that tradition, with the failure of the educational system, which limits opportunity. along with the failure of those in control to recognize the fact that racism is woven into the fabric of this country, yes, I do believe that racism and government play a big part in the problem. Perhaps it's not all intentional. But it's certainly there.
